Educating Your Male Clients on Proper Skin Care

I just read an interesting article on ModernSalon.com that stated 75 percent of men ages 18 and up are not currently using any facial skincare products. ...75 PERCENT! This is mostly due to men thinking skincare products are "girly". However, keeping the skin healthy is just as important for men too!

Your male clients need to be educated on proper skin care and the following 5 mistakes need to be thrown out the window:

Mistake #1 Bar Soap. -- Bar soap is no good for the skin because it will dry out the skin causing it to look dehydrated and dull. The binders that hold soap together have a higher pH balance than products that are designed for use on the face. Offer your male clients facial cleansers that will not dry out or irritate their skin.

Mistake #2 Bad Razors. -- Razors should be chosen based on the coarseness of the beard and the skin's sensitivity. Also, it is super important that a moisturizing shave product is being used, along with warm water to soften the hairs. Make sure to keep a few top quality shaving products to offer
to your male clients.

Mistake #3 Skipping After-Shave. -- After shave is the perfect end to a shave for soothing and hydrating the skin. Make sure to offer your clients alcohol free after shave products, as alcohol will dry out the skin.

Mistake #4 Not Moisturizing Daily. -- Moisturizer helps keep the skin looking and feeling healthy. Without it, skin starts looking dull. Moisturizing daily with a good quality moisturizer will also slow down the aging process! Lotions with antioxidants are great to offer to your male clients and will protect their skin.

Mistake #5 Skipping Sunscreen. -- Using sunscreen should be in everyone's daily routine. Skipping sunscreen increases the risk of sun damage which will cause redness, irritation, brown spots, and wrinkles. Sunscreen will help to keep the skin looking bright and youthful!
