Dry Skin Be Gone: How These Key Ingredients Can Help Alleviate Moisture Loss

After the record-breaking cold across much of the US last week, I wanted to discuss a winter problem I
am sure many of your clients are currently dealing with - DRY SKIN! I know my hands are red, raw, and cracked, and I bet you are seeing some of those symptoms yourself or on your clients!

Dry skin is a common problem, especially in the dry and cold months,  and it can be uncomfortable and unsightly. However, there are a number of skincare ingredients that can help to alleviate dryness and improve the overall appearance and health of the skin. It would be a good idea to bring in some quality retail products featuring some of the below ingredients - your clients will love you for offering them a solution!

Here are some of our favorite ingredients to combat dry skin:

Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a powerful moisturizing ingredient that is found naturally in the skin. It has the ability to hold onto a large amount of moisture, helping to plump and hydrate the skin. When applied topically, it can help to improve the skin's overall appearance and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Glycerin is another effective moisturizing ingredient. It is a humectant, which means that it attracts and holds onto water, helping to keep the skin hydrated and healthy. It is often used in skincare products to help alleviate dryness and improve the overall appearance of the skin.

Ceramides are lipids that are naturally found in the skin and play a vital role in protecting and moisturizing it. They help to strengthen the skin's barrier function, which is important for maintaining hydration and preventing moisture loss.

Urea is a substance that is produced by the body and has been shown to be effective at increasing the water content of the skin. It can be particularly helpful for those with dry or dehydrated skin, as it helps to retain moisture and improve the skin's overall appearance.

Encouraging your clients to use skincare products that contain these ingredients can help to improve the skin's moisture content and alleviate dryness. It's important to remind your clients to choose products that are formulated for their specific skin type and concerns to get the best results.

In addition, this is the ideal time to educate your clients about following a consistent skincare routine and using a gentle, non-stripping cleanser, as well as drinking plenty of water and protecting the skin from external factors, such as cold weather and harsh winds, to help prevent dryness.
