A Sweet Transition From Summer to Fall!

As the end of summer quickly approaches, spas are rounding out the last of the fresh, fruity treatments before transitioning into the cozy fall ones. Why not throw in something sweet to end the season off with some orange (summer feel, fall color!) centered treatments. There are so many awesome orange products, it doesn't matter what service(s) you offer, you can find great products!


Here are some favorites in all sorts of categories!

For facials:
Use a vitamin c ampoule before a mask or as the glide for use with a skin scrubber!

For body treatments:
Make your own masks, scrubs or peels! Orange peel and peeling powder are great for improving the texture and color of the skin due to all that lovely vitamin c. They also make great astringents! 

For nails:
Aside from the obvious orange polish and slippers/toe separators, you can add some orange essential oils to soaks, use orange peel or peeling powder to make scrubs or masks. Try out a La Palm Orange Marine Mask, salt glow, or lotion.

For massage:
Try out an orange scented lotion or add some essential oil to a carrier oil!


For everyone:
Have some orange essential oil or candles in the treatment room, offer orange teas, have orange robes and headbands.

Rose quartz is one of my favorite crystals, as it is usually known as the stone of love and light! Fun Fall Body Wrap Idea - Gingersnaps!

Yes, it's that time already! Fall is quickly approaching and many clients are looking at their fall menus. Aside from the awesome pumpkin and cranberry ideas, here's one that may surprise and delight your clients.

Ginger Body Wrap  - includes a scrub, wrap and moisturizer!

For the scrub:
In a large rubber mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup of Organic Sucanat Sugar, 2 teaspoons honey powder, 3 drops sweet almond oil and 3 drops of cinnamon essential oil. Place the bowl in a mud warmer, hot towel cabinet or even a stainless bowl filled with hot water.

For the wrap:
In a large rubber mixing bowl, combine 3 tablespoons rhassoul clay, 1 teaspoon ginger root powder, 1 teaspoon clove powder and 2 teaspoons honey powder. Add in 1 tablespoons of water and mix well. If the mix is too dry, add a little more water until the desired consistency. Place the bowl in a warmer.

For the moisturizer:
In a small mixing bowl or beaker, mix 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil, 3 drops lemon essential oil, 1 drop ginger essential oil and 1 drop of clove essential oil. Place in a warmer.

There you go, perform the treatment as you normally do! As always, you can offer ginger snacks and teas! Have some sample sized jars available to give the client any left over moisturizer!

Allow me to introduce Toe Rope. Quite popular last week so I looked into it a bit. The name made me think it was something crazy from 50 Shades of Gray, but it is not. It's used for separating toes during a pedicure! Who knew? And how clever! It also comes in a cool little dispenser box and within the box they're all rolled up. Looks pretty cool to me... why? I have no idea... I'm just a shipping guy! Extra Extra! What Extras Do YOU Use To Gain Your Clients' Loyalty?

It's no secret, especially in this industry that it is the little things that are important. So much so that your client retention can depend on those little things. Offering little extras to your clients can mean the difference between them coming back to you, or seeing what your competition is doing.

Everyone wants and likes to feel special, your clients are especially. You are in a unique position to make them feel beautiful inside and out. I've mentioned before that showing your clients you care about them as a person, can be the difference between a spa hopper and a life long relationship.

It could be something as little gifts like a sample from the amazing Control Corrective line! HOT HOT HOT - The Hangover Beauty Trend?

I was reading an article this morning (see it HERE) that was discussing one of the hottest beauty trends in Japan right now - referred to as the "Hangover Beauty Trend." At first, my thought was "Whaaaaaaa?" As I read a bit further though, it started to make a bit of sense....maybe.

The Japanese trend is known as "me no shita chiiku," or for those who aren't fluent in Japanese, "undereye blush." Yes, the trend may cause girls to look a bit sickly, with red-rimmed eyes, but I am kind of on board with the theory behind it. Younger girls are flocking to this trend, because applying rosy blush under the eyes gives a much more youthful impression, rather than the more mature, chiseled look of applying blush in a traditional angle under the cheekbones. In a world where kids are no longer kids, and everyone is growing up so fast, I love that they are embracing the more youthful look!

Another added benefit is that applying blush under the eyes helps mask undereye bags or dark circles. Who couldn't use a bit of help in that department?

Overall, I tend to doubt this is a trend that is going to pick up much steam in the US, but who knows - those Japanese women sure do know something about skin care and makeup, right?
