Cupping Therapy

If you're considering adding another alternative treatment to your business, the ancient art of Cupping Therapy is one that has been gaining popularity and recognition within the past year or so.

What exactly is cupping?!

Cupping is a form of alternative therapy in which cups are placed on the skin, particularly the back, or other areas of pain to create suction. It is actually an ancient form of healing that dates all the way back to Egyptian, Chinese, as well as Middle Eastern cultures. Although it's not too widely recognized in our Western Culture yet, it is definitely a therapy that is gaining more and more popularity within this year alone! It is especially beneficial to your clients who are looking for ways to heal pain naturally, without any use of medication.

How does it work?!

There are actually three types of cupping that are commonly practiced:

Dry Cupping
Dry cupping uses only the suction of the cups for treatment purposes. The suction creates a small amount of pressure in the back, which helps to stabilize blood flow which in turn, is said to believe promote the healing of various aliments.

Wet Cupping
During wet cupping, a suction is created using a cup that is left in place for about three minutes. The cup is then removed and then a small scalpel is used to make superficial skin incisions. A very minute quantity of blood is then drawn out. The reason being is that the toxins in the body are drawn out from the blood.

Fire Cupping
Fire Cupping is when heat is applied to the cups to maximize blood circulation. By adding fire to the inside of the cup, oxygen is removed and there is a high pressure within the suction cup.

This treatment offers a variety of benefits for your clients.

The British Cupping Society says cupping therapy can treat a variety of conditions. This has not been backed up by studies, however, according to WebMD, cupping therapy could potentially be used to treat*:
