I have to admit, at first glance, I thought..."C'mon now, are you serious?" However, after some thought, I am totally intrigued! Summertime and Playing it safe! Read on For Sun Safe Tips and Sun Protections

Although we all know that we are supposed to protect our skin year round from sun damage, summer is a crucial time to pay more attention to keeping your skin safe. People generally spend way more time in the sun during the summer months than any other season. So to break it down for you, this is how it goes. UV rays (meaning UVB and UVA) can lead to premature aging, uneven pigmentation. age spots/skin blemishes, weakened immune system, and skin cancer. I don't know about you, but that is definitely enough for me to start thinking smarter about protecting my skin! UVB rays are the culprits for the sunburn you get and UVB rays are responsible for the long term damaging effects. So you want to use a sunblock that blocks BOTH kinds of rays.

Some safe sun tips:

• Try to avoid or limit your time in the sun between 10am and 4pm, as that is when the sun rays are at their strongest!
• Obviously, use sunblock every time your outdoors..even when its cloudy! About 80% of rays hit earth on cloudy days!
• You also should choose an SPF of 15 or higher. 30 or higher is even better! SPF 15 blocks 92% of harmful rays, as SPF 30 blocks 96%
• Apply your sunblock around 20 minutes before sun exposure, as that is how long it takes to process.
• AVOID TANNING BEDS!!
• Also, wearing wide brimmed hats, sunglasses, and covering up are great ways to protect yourself.
• And please, please do not forget to REAPPLY!! Even water resistant types only protect you for 40 minutes during exposure to water. So reapply after swimming, sweating, and toweling off to ensure your still protected.

Prepare and Protect with the Cirépil Pre-Depilatory Oil

Recently, I decided to take the plunge and have my upper and lower legs completely waxed.  On a scale of 1-10, I would have to say the pain was along the lines of 'I would rather have a Bikini Wax every week rather than do this ever again.'  Within a week, I developed a serious case of ingrown hairs and now, between the bumps and subsequent ingrown removal, my legs are still recovering.

My negative waxing experience could have been prevented if the correct pre and post depilatory products had been used.  The majority of my experiences have involved some baby powder, then straight to the wax.  While powder can work in certain hot and humid environments, it is essential to use Pre-Depilatory Oil, especially the Cirépil Pre-Depilatory Oil / 8.8 oz.

Cirépil Pre-Depilatory Oil / 8.8 oz. is a Jasmine-based oil that both conditions and protects the skin during depilatory services.  It acts as a barrier between the skin and the wax so that only the hair is being pulled, rather than the skin.

Usage:

• Use sparingly on very dry areas of the skin or cold skin prior to waxing.
• Use after waxing procedures as desired.
• Can be used in massage therapy due to its light texture.
• Caution is recommended: over-application will cause the wax not to adhere to the hair.

Instructions for an Eco-fin treatment:

• Drop the selected Eco-Fin Cube into the prepared Eco-Sleeve.

Just Add Milk - Full Cream Powder Boosts Skin Treatments

Egyptian Bath Recipe:
1/2 to 1 cup of milk powder,
 mix with 2 tablespoons of wild honey.

Egyptian Princesses are said to have bathed in milk to enhance their beauty. Milk is a natural skin softener and moisturizer. Used alone or with honey, it leaves skin soft and silky. You can use milk as a make up remover, a cleanser, a scrub, or as a mask when mixed with a base.

Spa Pantry's natural Milk powder is renowned for it's richness in protein, vitamins (A, C, B1, B6, B12 & E) and minerals contains caprylic acid. It is believed that the AHAs found in milk have softening properties.


Spa Usage:Mixing ratio for most formulas is ¼ to ½ teaspoon of milk powder to 2 tablespoons of base for a body or facial treatment.

I was in the Pure Spa Direct shipping department the other day and something super cool caught my eye... and no, it was not Steve our Shipping Manager.  It was a client's order being packed for Polished Amethyst Tealight Holders.  Seriously, they are awesome.  Beautiful to look at, oddly nice to hold.


Amethyst, long prized in jewelry for its beautiful, violet coloring and within the spiritual community for its energetic qualities, is a beautiful crystal showing up in deposits where its many facets glisten with a deep, resonating purple. Now, such a deposit has been polished smooth and shaped to create a uniquely beautiful candle holder.
