Mega-Brand Paul Mitchell Joins Forces with Cruelty-Free International to Raise Awareness of Animal Testing in the Beauty Industry

Since the global professional hair care brand  was founded in 1980, all Paul Mitchell products have been cruelty-free. According to co-founder John Paul DeJoria, "We do not conduct or condone animal testing on our products."

Paul Mitchell has offered
cruelty-free hair products since 1980
Now, Paul Mitchell has teamed up with Cruelty-Free International, a global campaign to end animal testing for consumer products. According to www.paulmitchell.edu, Paul Mitchell is currently "the only cruelty-free professional hair care brand to be endorsed by Cruelty Free International under the Leaping Bunny standard, the most rigorous international no-animal-testing certification." Cruelty Free International calls on governments worldwide to introduce bans on animal testing for cosmetic and consumer products.

Paul Mitchell recently withdrew their products for sale in China, following the passage of a legislation requiring all imported cosmetics be tested on animals. Paul Mitchell is so invested in their commitment to remain cruelty free, they pulled all of their products until the legislation is changed - after selling in China for over a decade!

The beauty industry has seen an increase in clients desiring more natural products, more eco-friendly products, and products that are not tested on animals. As a business owner, you may want to commit your business to using products that are safe, effective, and cruelty-free.  Your clients can be confident in their choice of Paul Mitchell hair products.

"Leaping Bunny" certified - Max and Gisele APPROVED!
Pure Spa Direct offers a number of other brands that carry the "Leaping Bunny" certification - the ONLY guarantee that companies meet strict criteria ensuring certification of no-animal-testing. If your clients are looking for cruelty-free products, take a look at some of the brands below:

Hair Color Trends for 2013

Hairstylist to the stars and Ambassador for Wella and Sebastian, Claudio Lazo is one of the go-to sources for all that is hot, happening and trending for the new year.

Over the past 2 years, the industry has seen a shift from hair color that blends in to hair that stands out and makes a bold statement. The exciting news is that 2013 will be no different!  According to Lazo, who worked with Michael Kors and Nicole Ritchie for their fashion shows, people will now be experimenting with non-traditional colors, such as blues, purples, burgundy, pinks and both warm and cool versions of violet.  In addition, expect your clients to request some subtle, yet daring pastels hues!

An excellent line to use for both the trends and the classics is the Matrix Logics Color DNA System.  Check out the Matrix Professional Website HERE where you can access tons of information, guides, descriptions and a very informative handbook for the Logics system.

Don't forget that Pure Spa Direct has Apparel, Appliances, Brushes / Combs, Hair-Coloring Accessories and everything else you need for salon services!

Wella Illumina Color: The New, Groundbreaking Professional Line

On September 21st of this year, Wella celebrated the launch of their new and groundbreaking Illumina Color Line!  Not only is this new technology designed to keep hair healthier than ever, it can also help you reach a whole new market of clients.

As a colorist, you know that the hardest clientele to reach are those with 'Virgin Hair' aka hair that has never been chemically processed or colored.  The Illumina Permanent Color is a patented product that has been 5 years in the making to help keep damage to a minimum and keep hair as close to natural, 'virgin hair' as possible.  This is huge news for the industry, especially since 62% of women who do not color their hair say that fear of damage is the main reason.

According to Fabio Sementilli, the Creative Director of Wella Professional, “ILLUMINA is about clear color, clear shine and clear vibrancy. Women who say they’re afraid to color their hair because they worry about damage will see shining hair that is in great condition. The effects are the same on virgin as they are on previously colored hair.”

The Illumina Color Line will be officially released and available for purchase in January, 2013!

If you use Wella products in your salon, you can go to the Wella Professional Website and register your salon.  This will help get the word out to potential clients that they can have Wella products used on their hair at your salon!  Also, Pure Spa carries over 65,000 products, including Wella Color, Wella DeveloperFoil, Brushes, Bottles, Bowls / Shakers, Capes and other accessories!!

Hair Coloring Assistance - There's An App for That!

For all of those women out there that don't know what hair color they should go with for their new hair color or for the stylists that may need a little help in assisting their clients on what color to choose, I'm going to let you in on a little secret.  There's an app for that!

L'OrĂ©al Paris has come up with an app available in Mac Apple Store for your Iphone or Ipad that will help people choose a color for their hair.  One way to use the app allows people to scan the barcode on their products to learn about the color, while the second and more beneficial part of this app for stylists is clients answer  a short questionnaire about what they want and then the app recommends colors.  So, by the time they come to you, the guesswork on what color shade they would like is taken out of the mix.
Even though Pure Spa Direct doesn't carry L'Oreal products we do carry Clairol and Wella.  You can look at the color guide the app shows and compare it to the brand your salon uses to give the customer exactly what they want.  Plus we have all the essential items needed for your hair coloring services, such as mixing kits and hair color accessories.
