Did you know tomatoes have natural vitamins and minerals that are healing for the skin?

To name a few...

  • Selenium helps strengthen
  • Beta Carotene helps with wrinkles, aging, and UV protectant
  • Zinc helps with clogged pores, heals, and rejuvenates
Try Fruit Collagen Mask - Tomato Pore Decongesting Mask

This deep-penetrating treatment decongests and balances oily and acne-prone skin, helping to calm and clear the complexion. It increases the amount of oxygen in the skin, allowing clogged up pores to breathe again. Antioxidants and vitamins nourish and protect the skin against harmful free radicals and sun damage, allowing the skin to stay healthy, dewy and supple.

Vitamins For Your Skin

From the time we are kids, we are taught the importance of vitamins to help be strong and healthy (I'm a Flinstone kid!) on the inside. As adults, we learn the importance of vitamins to help stay healthy and fight the evil forces of aging. We cannot forget the importance of vitamins for our skin, the first thing people see!

I was reading an article last week on some of the trends at The Face & Body® Midwest Spa Conference & Expo and one section was regarding a lecture on the importance of vitamins for the skin.

Here is a small sampling of the benefits of the most common vitamins:
  • Vitamin C is excellent for countering the effects of sun exposure, pollution, and smoke among other free radicals. Vitamin C also is useful in the production of collagen.
  • Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant, helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, is great on dry skin and when combined with Vitamin C you have double powered protector against the sun.
  • Vitamin A is also great for reducing the appearance on wrinkles and is beneficial in acne treatments.
  • Biotin is an extremely important B vitamin essential for hair, nails and skin. Adding a biotin treatment can give your clients an instant healthy glow. It's hydrating (think, pump!), toning and has anti inflammatory properties.

Winter Emergency Calls for Vitamin C...for Your Skin!

It is winter, and that means we are all doubling up on our Vitamin C intake, right? Vitamin C is such an important vitamin, especially during cold and flu season.

We know we should take Vitamin C daily, but did you know that you should apply Vitamin C topically to the skin as well? According to one of my favorite skin care websites, Paula's Choice, Vitamin C is one of the most beneficial vitamins to apply topically to the skin. Vitamin C has been shown to boost collagen production, reduce the appearance of discoloration, enhance the skin's repair process, reduce inflammation, and more!

We all need vitamins, and so does our skin! Pure Spa Direct offers a number of topical Vitamin C choices. One of our favorite Vitamin C products is the Vitamin C Capsules - mix the contents of the capsule with water and massage into the skin. This is a great facial add-on service! For even better results, use a galvanic current to penetrate the Vitamin C even deeper into the skin.

Give your clients fresh, glowing skin by adding Vitamin C products to your facials today!

Create a Little Tropical Paradise Right in Your Treatment Room with Banana Masks!

I love finding interesting and natural ingredients to incorporate into my skin care regimen and to share with my clients, and I have found another to share with you today! Pure Spa Direct recently added a new BANANA mask, and when I saw it, I just HAD to try it!

Bananas are great for our skin for the same reason they are great for our bodies - they are packed full of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamins A (an antioxidant that helps prevent free radical damage and the breakdown of collagen, leading to fuller, more smooth skin), B (helps maintain moisture and suppleness), E (another antioxidant that helps prevent free radical damage), and F (omega fatty acids that are emollient, water-binding and antioxidant), as well as minerals such as iron, magnesium, and zinc. And even if you eat the healthiest of diets and swallow vitamins daily, your body only allocates a certain amount of vitamins and minerals to your skin. If you are looking for an extra vitamin boost, it must be applied topically.

And that is where skin care products like this new Banana Mask comes in! Give your clients' skin a nutrient boost, and turn a run-of-the-mill facial into a tropical adventure! Offer your clients a pina colada as they wait, relax and moisturize their skin during your facial, and they will think they escaped to paradise.
