Beauty Trends: Charcoal!

I recently came across an interesting article on the latest Beauty Trends of 2015. One trend on the list in particular that I was surprised to see make the cut is charcoal! I'm sure you don't automatically associate charcoal with beauty, but this carbon residue actually has a plethora of beautifying benefits for the skin. Here's why!

Often made from bamboo, charcoal helps to absorbs toxins and other impurities from the skin, which in turn helps to keep it clean and free from harmful substances. While soap tends to leave a residue, charcoal has natural ingredients which can be beneficial to the skin's barrier. Charcoal works like a magnet on the skin, attracting toxins and dirt which leaves the skin clean and glowing!

If you're in need of a new service to add to your clients, why not get on this latest beauty trend? We have an amazing Charcoal Collagen Mask that also contains marine collagen, which increases hydration and preserves healthy skin. It's a win-win situation for both you and your clients - trendy, purifying, and youth-defying - a great facial service for your spa!

Strobing is the New Black...I mean the New Contouring!

What is strobing?! My thoughts exactly when I saw a recent article that deemed young Hollywood Starlets were ditching the rules of contouring for this new look. Essentially, strobing is the new fun term for highlighting. It's a way to contour the face by focusing on the areas that are meant to be highlighted to accentuate its features. These areas include the cheekbones, temples, down the bridge of the nose, above the cupid's bow, the brow bones, and even the corners of the eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if you've already had a few clients ask you to strobe them without you even knowing the term, let alone prepared for it!

The best way to prep? Consider the face a canvas. If it's not properly prepared and smooth, the artist's painting could end up uneven and (somewhat) disastrous! Strobing is all about getting the perfect glow, so you will most certainly need to replenish your client's skin before you can get the perfect strobing effect.

To start, it's definitely best for your client's skin to be completely moisturized beforehand. Prep their skin with a facial moisturizing mask like the Mandarin Moisture Masque we have from June Jacobs.

To prepare the skin further and enhance contouring, we have the Alchimie Forever Tightening Eye Contour Gel that can be applied to your client's eye contour area. This can help to reduce puffiness and firm the eye area to ensure stroing won't highlight tired eyes!

Once your client's skin is moisturized, it's time to apply the highlighter! You'll definitely want to make sure you have the proper tools. It's best to blend the makeup with a fan brush, or a damp makeup sponge when applying it on their face for hygienic purposes. Check out our Everything Makeup section of our site if you haven't already! We have all of the beauty tools you need to prepare for the strobing trend.

Not All Salts are Created Equal!

Salt has gained such a bad rep over the past few decades. This is largely because of commercial table salt that we see everywhere which can cause heart and health problems when consumed excessively! The good news is there's a salt out there that is actually good for you and can help enhance your clients' skin and overall beauty.

Himalayan Sea Salt has been gaining popularity over the last few years, and for good reason! This type of salt is packed with 84 different minerals and naturally contain iodine. Compared to table salt, which is stripped of iodine and vital minerals, Himalayan sea salt is used for detoxification, muscle relaxation, and even sinus issues! Does your spa have any products containing it? You might want to consider getting on this latest trend to help enhance your massage, pedicure, and even facial treatments!

We have a variety of Himalayan Sea Salt products here at Pure Spa Direct. Check out my favorites below!
How adorable are these Himalayan Salt Massage Stones Hearts?! These massage stones  are derived of salt crystals from an ancient primal sea beneath the Himalayan Mountains are hand-carved into massage stones that gently soothe away an accumulation of stress, tension and pollutants. Your clients will love them!

Are you in need of more decor in your spa? Our Himalayan Salt Pyramid Lamp is made with the white salt and has a beautiful natural wood base for an elegant touch. You might want to consider retailing these to your clients as well!

Interested in adding a Himalayan Sea Salt Pedicure to your spa menu? Our Fine Himalayan Salt Scrub is great to use as a soak and exfoliation on your clients!

Dry Shampoo 101

In today's fast paced world, everyone is constantly on the look out for convenience and quickness, especially when it comes to looking good. Who has time these days to blow dry their hair in the morning anymore? I most certainly do not, and I'm sure most of your clients would agree!

This is where dry shampoo comes in! Did you know that this amazing, super trendy product has actually been around for centuries? According to an article I read, sometime around the late 15th century, the first historical reference of dry shampoo was used when people in Asia were putting clay powder on their head. Here in the states, dry shampoo was during the late 1700s and early 1800s when ground starches were used to color and deodorize the wigs of our forefathers. Who ever would have guessed?!

But what exactly is this glorious and apparently historically monumental product?!

Dry shampoo is basically any type of product that is applied to one's head to rid the scalp of dirt and odor without using water. It's magic in my eyes, and as an avid user, I would most certainly recommend you have your salon fully stocked for your clients.

We have a great dry shampoo called Perk Up by Amika Obliphica that I absolutely love! It's an ultralight formula made with buckthorn berry extract which helps repair split ends and strengthen and nourish hair for a shiny, smooth finish. It's great for all hair types - even your clients with color treated hair! All they need to do is spray it in their roots, brush it in, and style. The lively and colorful packaging will pop out on your retail stand as well. Prolong your client's blowouts by encouraging them to try out this product, and I promise you they'll be hooked!
