Strobing is the New Black...I mean the New Contouring!

What is strobing?! My thoughts exactly when I saw a recent article that deemed young Hollywood Starlets were ditching the rules of contouring for this new look. Essentially, strobing is the new fun term for highlighting. It's a way to contour the face by focusing on the areas that are meant to be highlighted to accentuate its features. These areas include the cheekbones, temples, down the bridge of the nose, above the cupid's bow, the brow bones, and even the corners of the eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if you've already had a few clients ask you to strobe them without you even knowing the term, let alone prepared for it!

The best way to prep? Consider the face a canvas. If it's not properly prepared and smooth, the artist's painting could end up uneven and (somewhat) disastrous! Strobing is all about getting the perfect glow, so you will most certainly need to replenish your client's skin before you can get the perfect strobing effect.

To start, it's definitely best for your client's skin to be completely moisturized beforehand. Prep their skin with a facial moisturizing mask like the Mandarin Moisture Masque we have from June Jacobs.

To prepare the skin further and enhance contouring, we have the Alchimie Forever Tightening Eye Contour Gel that can be applied to your client's eye contour area. This can help to reduce puffiness and firm the eye area to ensure stroing won't highlight tired eyes!

Once your client's skin is moisturized, it's time to apply the highlighter! You'll definitely want to make sure you have the proper tools. It's best to blend the makeup with a fan brush, or a damp makeup sponge when applying it on their face for hygienic purposes. Check out our Everything Makeup section of our site if you haven't already! We have all of the beauty tools you need to prepare for the strobing trend.

So Long Ombre.. Hello Balayage!

The ombre trend has definitely faded, but there's a new highlighting trend in town! Say hello to balayage, a popular highlighting technique that's gathering a lot of attention, especially for Spring and Summer. Instead of the dramatic, contrasting colors that ombre provides, balayage is a subtle, more natural sun-kissed look. Balayage is actually a french word meaning "to swoop" or "to paint," which creates a softer, beautiful and almost all-natural look. With summer rapidly approaching, a lot of your clients are going to want lighter hair... especially since celebrities like Lana Del Rey and Khloe Kardashian have been seen sporting it!
But are you prepared for the balayage trend? Here at Pure Spa Direct, we just got in the ColorTrak Tools Balayage Board and Brush Set that will have you all set up for this latest hair trend. This brush contains shorter brush bristles for precise coloring, as well as a slightly curved board on 2 side to better suit head shape! You'll also be quite comfortable performing this service, as the handle allows for stability.

You'll also need to protect each highlight! Check out our film roll which is specifically for balayage treatments. For all of your salon highlighting needs, please click here, and make sure you're prepared this summer for your clients looking to get that sun-kissed balayage look!
