Need to Brighten Your Menu? How About A Strawberry Margarita Manicure

Looking for something to infuse new life into your Summer menu? Check out the Strawberry Margarita Manicure!

This treatment is great for exfoliating and moisturizing dry dehydrated skin and will have your clients feeling like they're lounging on the beach with an umbrella drink.

Hand Soak:
Add 6 drops of lime essential oil to a manicure bowl. For an added touch, float strawberry leaves or lime slices in the water!

Hand Rub:
Comebine 1/4 cup of epsom salts, 1/4 cup of coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of strawberry leaves to a rubber mixing bowl and mix well. Add in 6 drops of lime essential oil and blend together. Place the bowl in a mud warmer or hot towel cabinet.

Hand Masque:
Combine 2 tablespoons or rose clay powder, 2 teaspoons of aloe gel, 1 teaspoon coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of water and mix well in a rubber mixing bowl. Blend in 6 drops of lime essential oil. Place in a mud warmer or hot towel cabinet.

Follow your regular manicure protocol starting with the soak and followed by the rub and masque!

Spring Scents Recipe For Your Spa!

The weather here in NY is unseasonably warm right now, shifting everyone's focus to all things Spring. Here is an aromatherapy recipe that can be used in various way that are sure to boost your clients mood!

Aromatherapy:
Add 10 drops of Rose Absolute, 10 drops of Lemon, and 2 drops of Peppermint essential oils to the diffuser water. This will have your clients feeling that Spring fling no matter what the weather outside is like!

Massages:
Mix 4 oz. of a carrier oil, cream, or lotion with 5 drops of Rose Absolute, 5 drops of Lemon, and 1 drops of Peppermint essential oil

Scrub:
Mix 8 oz. of salt or sugar with 4 tablespoons of carrier oil, mix well. Add the following essential oils: 10 drops of Rose Absolute, 10 drops of Lemon, and 2 drops of Peppermint.

Simply adding various essential oils can create an entire new feel to your room and services!

Extra Extra! What Extras Do YOU Use To Gain Your Clients' Loyalty?

It's no secret, especially in this industry that it is the little things that are important. So much so that your client retention can depend on those little things. Offering little extras to your clients can mean the difference between them coming back to you, or seeing what your competition is doing.

Everyone wants and likes to feel special, your clients are especially. You are in a unique position to make them feel beautiful inside and out. I've mentioned before that showing your clients you care about them as a person, can be the difference between a spa hopper and a life long relationship.

It could be something as little gifts like a sample from the amazing Control Corrective line! (pick items tied into the services they come in for or retail items!), client appreciation days/specials even something as complimentary Eco-Fin treatments! Pay attention to your conversations with clients, note important events or likes on their profile or service card. The key is to make sure you look over the profile card BEFORE they come in for the appointment. Bring up whatever it is during your conversation, they will be impressed you "remembered". If they have an event or something they are excited for coming up, offer a complimentary add on, retail item (even a few sample packs or mini nail polish if you don't want to offer full size gifts) or even a coupon off their next visit.

I know most salons/spas offer complimentary beverages, how is your presentation? I love seeing drink dispensers that are on the fancier or unique looking side. The Vitajuwel line is beautiful, unique and comes elegantly packaged making a great presentation if you decide to retail them!

Ideas for Organization - Employee Tip Lockers

So I was just introduced to a really great idea when it comes to organizing gratuity tips for your employees. Normally, your client would give their tip to the front desk or directly to the employee. However, sometimes tips can get misplaced, forgotten, etc. I thought that this idea was a perfect solution for this!

The idea is kind of like individual employee "cubbies", but they are lockers. With our Cell Phone Locker Units, the lockers are small enough for this purpose and all that is needed is the optional door with the slot. We have many options available, as these are custom made to order. They are available in Aluminum, Bronze, Gold, and Sandstone with your choice of 15, 20, and 25 individual lockers. You also have the option of custom engraving, plexiglass window, or a clear plastic card holder(which is great for when you have to switch out names!)

Each door can come with either a re-settable lock or a key lock (master keys are available as well) which can be assigned to each employee. All your clients would have to do with this is insert their tip right into the designated locker with the employees name that had assisted them that day.

I just read an article on what the International SPA Association is predicting the top 10 industry trends are in skin care for the upcoming year. Some weren't too surprising as the trends have been growing over the last few years while some were quite interesting. You can read the article here.

With tanning, colored contacts, hair tints/dyes it is nearly impossible to tell these days.

9. Online Presence 
Nearly every business I talk to has some sort of a social media page. It's important to not just have a page with your business info but to allow interaction with clients. Whether it be through blogs, online scheduling or contests, being accessible online is critical these days. 

10.  Express Service
 Many people don't have the time every week to book a half or full day appointment. Offering express services is crucial. Whether it be a combo pack of services or a mini facial, make sure to capitalize on the client's who want to utilize your services on a tight schedule.

A study conducted by a firm that tracks sales and advises business on trends found that people were most attached to their lip balms. Tips for Sunless Success!
