White Is The New Green Tea

It's no secret that green tea offers a variety of health benefits ranging anywhere from weight loss to anti-stress relief. Health stores and wellness boutiques alike are implementing its powerful effects on health, beauty, and even anti-aging properties. I am all about green tea, don't get me wrong!.. but did you know that white tea is actually even more powerful than it's older sister?! I say older sister because green tea and white tea actually come from the same plant, the Camellia Sinensis. However white tea is harvested at a younger age, hence its stronger effects. It is less processed than green tea, allowing it to retain a higher antioxidant content than green. Higher antioxidants = stronger effects! The reason green tea gets all the credit is because it has been studied extensively, it's more common, and it's easier and less expensive than white.

We're putting the lime light on white tea with a variety of products that contain this anti-oxidant rich herb here at Pure Spa Direct! These products are a fun way to change up your normal green tea treatments you offer or retail at your spa, or to simply add a new variety of tea products! Check below for some of my favorites..

We just got in this white tea and ginger sugar scrub here at Pure Spa Direct, and I could not be more excited! This is actually a 3-in-1 formula that exfoliates, cleanses, and moisturizes. It's perfect for spa treatments including pedicures. Change up your pedicure menu by adding a white tea spa pedicure that will certainly intrigue your clients from the normal green tea pedicure they're used to. Its attractive package design is also great for retailing!

To go along with the sugar scrub, we also have these adorable mini effervescent soak scrubs that are great for retailing! We also have the large soak scrubs which can be used for professional treatments in your spa. These bath bombs are great to implement in your new white tea spa pedicure, as they replenish lost moisture and promote a youthful appearance, especially for hands and feet.

Do you offer beverages to your clients? If not, we have a variety of white tea options that can be a great feature to add to your spa! Click here to view the various types of white tea we have and get your clients hooked on this anti-oxidant rich beverage!

Relax With Lavender

Lavender is perfect for de-stressing!
In today's fast-paced, busy world, who wouldn't want to de-stress and unwind? Help your clients relax with the soothing properties of lavender. Lavender is one of the most popular aromatic scents in spa settings, and for good reason! On top of it smelling lovely, it is highly effective at relieving stress and calming down the central nervous system.

Lavender is a flowering plant cultivated in temperate climates as decorative use for gardens and landscapes. Most recently, it is commonly used as an essential oil once extracted. On top of calming and relieving tension, the scent can also be used to aide sleep and as an antiseptic oil for skin. No wonder its a favorite! It's soft purple color has also been popular in trends lately. From nail polish to hair dye, it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon, especially with the warmer months coming up!

We here at Pure Spa Direct offer a variety of lavender products. From it's purest essential oil form all the way to lavender colored hair chalk, see below for some of my favorites!...

Lavender Essential Oil Organic / 1 oz. by Now

This newly added body lotion will help your clients to moisturize while keeping them relaxed. Lavender is blended with sage, which another healing herb that your clients will love!

Organic Chamomile Tea with Lavender 16 Tea Bags by Traditional Medicinals
To help further relax stressed out clients, why not offer them a cup of tea? This is one of my favorite teas, especially as a sleeping aide. With the help of chamomile, this lavender blend tea will most certainly alleviate any tension.

Burn Baby Burn---Tips For Massage Therapist To Avoid Burnout

Every massage therapist I know, myself included, has experienced massage burnout on some level. Whether taking too many clients during the day/week or just not ever taking time off for themselves. I know therapists who pushed and pushed to the point where not only did they suffer the physical stresses of burnout, but they fell out of love with performing massage in any capacity.

We all learned about self care in school, are you practicing? How often do you take time for yourself?
Are you utilizing any "helper" tools during your massages to help with any soreness you may be experiencing?

In order to give our best work, we must be in our best condition!

Here are some self care tools and helper tools to aid in combating massage hangovers:

Thera Cane

* TAKE BREAKS!!! always try to schedule enough time between clients to recharge, have a snack, take a quick walk
*Receive regular massage...this is very important!!!

The Need for Speed!… And the 30-minute Spa Treatment!

As a born and raised New Yorker, I can understand the stereotype that (some, not all) New Yorkers are rude and ill-mannered. In our defense, I believe the major reason for this temperament is because we are ALWAYS rushing. Like the majority of rest of the world, there is always somewhere to be and always work to be done. 24 hours in a day just never seems to be enough time, to get everything needed to be done...well… actually done!

I bet there are many hardworking professionals out there that can afford and are willing to pay for more spa treatments, if they only had the time. An excellent way to grab this market is by offering and advertising 20-30 min spa treatments--just enough time to get those kinks out of the back during a stressful day, rest the eyes during a lunch break to feel rejuvenated and refreshed to head back to work. Other ideas include offering quick makeovers such as a Lifting & Tightening Mask Treatments before a party or event.
