Stress Relief For Med Spas, Dental Offices & More!

Over the last few years, I've seen amazing growth in the medical niche of the industry embracing more spa like services in their businesses. From cancer centers offering aromatherapy pens or scented warm towels to ease everything from anxiety to nausea to dental offices offering heated mitts, booties and warm herbal wraps - more and more offices are going the extra mile to stand out and above from their competition.

You don't have to break the bank or come up with extravagant ground breaking ways  to provide exceptional comfort to anxious clients or those who will be in the office for extended periods of time. For example: for less than $1.60 per treatment, you can offer an Eco Fin treatment; an all natural paraffin alternative hand or foot treatment that will soften skin with a variety of scents to help clients
ease into a state of relaxation.

Interested but not sure what would best fit or be incorporated into your specific business? Give us a call, chat with us or send a message- we're happy to help!

Client Comfort: Eye Masks

It's no secret client comfort is key. You've put time, money and thought into everything from the treatment tables to the aromatherapy choices in your space. It's also no secret that it is the little things that can have a drastic impact on client satisfaction. Something seemingly small can be what makes a client stick with you over your competition and you may never even know.
While herbal eye masks are generally thought of as a comfort or "nice touch" to offer with services, for a person with light sensitivity or eye issues/discomfort, it can be a game changer. For less than a dollar, you can offer something like the Satin Eye Mask by Scalpmaster for a client to use during many different services (some you may not even think necessary to offer!) and you may just be taking the service to a level you never dreamed for that client. They may feel awkward or uncomfortable making a request for a "sleep mask" or not know it could be an option. You don't even need to go into anything more than "would you like an eye mask for added comfort and relaxation?" to give them an option!

Get Salty! Salt Stone Massages

Getting a hot stone massage makes many instantly think relaxing thoughts, with the occasional “oooh” or “aaah” while they’re thinking. Why not take the massage to the next level with salt stones?

Salt crystals from an ancient primal sea beneath the Himalayan Mountains are hand-carved into massage stones that gently soothe away an accumulation of stress, tension and pollutants.Salt therapy in general is still trending, with more and more businesses adding in various treatments, salt beds or tables, add on services and even retailing salt lamps for home use.

The salt stones are easy to use, portable and pay for themselves in no time at all!

For inquiring minds who have questions, here are a few quick tips:

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do you heat the stones?
A: Any dry heat source, heating pad, toaster oven, skillet, light bulb, and of course our aesthetically pleasing, air purifying salt stone warmer lamp, or salt bowl lamp. We do not recommend heating in the microwave.

Q: How do you clean the stones?
A: Ultimately salt is antimicrobial, and should not require any disinfecting. Since we cannot guarantee this, we recommend cleaning the stones this way: After each use you can take a spray bottle and make a solution of thyme and tea tree oil and spray the stones and dry them immediately. At the end of the day, you can take a bottle of warm or hot water and put a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar in it with 10 drops of tea tree oil. You then dip the stone and swish it around. You can leave it in a few seconds, but any length of time will cause the stone to disintegrate. Dry the stone immediately, put it back on it's heat source to dry better and further sanitize.

Q: How long do they last?
A: The stones last indefinitely, as long as they are kept dry. When exposed to moisture they will pit and sometimes dissolve depending on how much moisture. When they get rough you can sand them with sand paper to smooth them. When used with water for salt scrub and lymphatic drainage, they will need to be replaced from time to time.

Q: Can you use them with lotion or oil?
A: We do not recommend using with oil. It is difficult to clean and clogs the salt. We recommend using Jojoba or Coconut oil. These two oils do not get rancid or degrade the salt. Depending on the skin you can use the stones dry as well.

Q: Do you have to heat the stones?
A: The stones have a therapeutic effect warm or cold. When warmed, the negative ion potential of the stone is ignited.

It's no surprise that people are feeling the stress of the holidays. From running around getting gifts and/or cooking supplies (finding parking!) to holiday travelling...there's no shortage of stress related aches, pains and worn out nerves!

Here are two perfect massage oils for soothing your clients holiday stress!

Option 1:
In a dark (amber or blue work great!) glass bottle, mix 3 drops of rosemary essential oil and 3 drops of cinnamon essential oil with 1/4 cup of grapeseed oil or any carrier oil you prefer (coconut oil is always a best seller!). Put the lid on the bottle and shake well. It's as easy as that!

Option 2:
In a dark bottle, mix 4 drops of spruce essential oil, 3 drops of eucalyptus oil with 1/4 cup of carrier oil. Put the lid on and mix well. This is a super popular mix this time of year!

Give the client any excess oil in a smaller new glass bottle to take home as an added little touch!

Back To School Stress!

Now that most, if not all schools have started back up, some parents have a little extra free time during the day, or are back to regular work schedules. Those back to regular schedules can start to feel like they are running all over the place.

The before school morning rush getting the kid(s) up and out the door while attempting to get themselves ready for work can be similar to a circus. The commute to work during the school year seems to take twice as long - hullo stress! After work many parents are off to practice, games, and other various after school programs - don't forget play dates! Throw in the usual every day things like cleaning, cooking, helping with homework and a variety of other tasks - many parents are always on the "go, go, GO" time schedule.

Have you thought about marketing specifically to those types of clients? Have a back to school special for parents! You can have set days/times to offer super relaxing treatments - with no kids allowed! Heck, even have a quiet room where guests can relax in comfy chairs (like the Loafah Chaise + Spa-Massage Treatment Table) with dim lighting (led candles!), soft music and relaxing teas or cucumber water (the Vitajuwel Decanter Set is the way to go!)to just enjoy some uninterrupted quiet time. Sometimes that is all a parent needs to recharge for the day, week, month!

Not sure where to start? Take a look at some all time favorites among our clients to really push relaxation to the next level:

Curved Japanese Bamboo Lounge Chair
Reclining Reflexology Chair
Breath Lounge Relaxation Lounge
Aqua Thermassage Tables
Vitajuwel - these are a great unique addition to your decor and make an excellent retail item!
Ultimate ZZZZs Silk Sleep Mask - I have this, it's amazing!

Since many parents may not have all that much time to spare, having a room or area where they don't need to change or spend an hour or day to relax will make it that much more appealing!

Deadline Lurking? Who Ya Gonna Call? Pure Spa Direct!

Running a business is not always an easy, smooth or predictable ride. Things change day by day and sometimes minute by minute.

I spoke to a frantic spa owner this week who is having a grand reopening in two weeks. She was frantic because she realized she did not have her treatment beds. The reasons on how she ended up two weeks out is irrelevant. There will usually be some sort of last minute issue that arises leaving you scrambling.

In this one situation, we discussed her needs in a treatment bed, the look and feel she was going for as well as the budget. We looked at some different options that fell within her parameters, and picked one that would arrive before her reopening - with time to spare!

If you find yourself in a time crunch or emergency situation, take a deep breath and reach out to us! We will do everything in our power to meet your deadline without you having to sacrifice quality or have a nervous breakdown in the process!

Hydrating, Cellulite-Busting Chocolate Body Treat!

Are you noticing more and more clients coming in these days with dry or dehydrated skin? All the fun beach trips, yard work and other outdoor summer activities are taking a toll on their skin. Between the sun, sweat, products and general dirt, the skin needs some detoxing and hydrating! Here is a great recipe for a chocolate body treatment that not only hydrates the skin, but also may help reduce the appearance of cellulite!

It's a great idea to have the scrub and mousse prepared shortly before the client arrives to save time and get them warm so it's extra luxurious!

Here are the recipes to prepare:

Chocolate Mint Salt Scrub.
In a large mixing bowl, combine dead sea salt and chocolate mint oil (you can use any chocolate oil you prefer!) so they are blended well. Place the mixing bowl into a bowl of warm water to warm the scrub.

Chocolate Body Mousse
In large mixing bowl, combine white clay powder with aloe vera gel and blend well. Add in cocoa powder and water, and mix until there are no clumps. If the mousse seems dry, add water slowly until it's a thin smooth mixture you can easily apply to the body. Place the mixing bowl into a bowl of warm water to warm the mousse.

Start off by dry brushing the client's skin to increase circulation and prepare the skin for the treatment.

After dry brushing, apply the chocolate body scrub to the client's entire body as you normally would apply a scrub. If you don't yet have a wet room with a vichy shower, gently remove the scrub with warm towels or have the client shower if you have on available.

Next, apply the chocolate body mousse in a thin later to the client's skin as you would any other body wrap. Once the client's skin is covered with the mousse, wrap with plastic wrap and cover with a thermal blanket. Leave the client wrapped for about 15-20 minutes to allow the mousse to absorb into the skin. Now is a great time for any add on services like a scalp or facial massage!

Remove the blanket, plastic and remove the chocolate mousse as you normally remove body wraps. Allow the client to shower if you have the ability, or dry brush the skin and remove the mousse with warm towels.

You can finish with a massage (add on profit!) or simply by applying Caribbean Smoothie Hydrating + Anti-Aging Body Cream by Extended Vacation to the entire body to lock in all that lovely hydration!

Boost the chocolate indulgence by offering little chocolate treats or having chocolate infused drinks on hand to offer the client!

Treat Your Skin With Sea Salts!!

Are you offering sea salts to your clients?!! If not, take a look at all these amazing benefits they offer which will have you wondering why you waited so long!!

Bath sea salts are very high natural mineral contents, including magnesium, potassium, calcium, bromine, sodium, and chloride.  These nutrients all consist of health benefits that will help promote healthy-looking, youthful skin.

Your clients will notice a difference in their skin tone:
After regular use your clients will notice their skin softer and firmer.  The magnesium found in sea salt can help eliminate fluid retention, slow down aging and calm the nervous system. The grainy texture of sea salts assist in removing dull dead skin cells to reveal a fresher, newer layer of skin.

Cleaner Pores:
One of the main components of sea salts is calcium, which helps to prevent water retention and clogged pores, as well as strengthens bones and nails. The potassium in sea salts helps to energize the skin and balance skin moisture, while sodium assists in lymphatic fluid balance.

Increased Blood Circulation:
Sea salts are alkaline-based and help to de-acidify the body and help raise pH levels. This can also assist in balancing blood sugar levels and reduce the aging rate.

Muscle Relief:
The bromide found in sea salts can help relax muscles and ease muscle stiffness. Saltwater is a common treatment for muscle aches and pains, because it naturally penetrates the pores, enters into the bloodstream and tissues, and removes lactic acid accumulations, one of the roots of post-exercise pain.

Some of the internal benefits your clients will find from sea salt soaks include:
-Reducing levels of stress
-Dealing with Insomnia
-Increasing circulation
-Expelling toxins from the body

Please take a look below at some of the sea salts we sell at Pure Spa Direct:
