Extra Extra! What Extras Do YOU Use To Gain Your Clients' Loyalty?

It's no secret, especially in this industry that it is the little things that are important. So much so that your client retention can depend on those little things. Offering little extras to your clients can mean the difference between them coming back to you, or seeing what your competition is doing.

Everyone wants and likes to feel special, your clients are especially. You are in a unique position to make them feel beautiful inside and out. I've mentioned before that showing your clients you care about them as a person, can be the difference between a spa hopper and a life long relationship.

It could be something as little gifts like a sample from the amazing Control Corrective line! (pick items tied into the services they come in for or retail items!), client appreciation days/specials even something as complimentary Eco-Fin treatments! Pay attention to your conversations with clients, note important events or likes on their profile or service card. The key is to make sure you look over the profile card BEFORE they come in for the appointment. Bring up whatever it is during your conversation, they will be impressed you "remembered". If they have an event or something they are excited for coming up, offer a complimentary add on, retail item (even a few sample packs or mini nail polish if you don't want to offer full size gifts) or even a coupon off their next visit.

I know most salons/spas offer complimentary beverages, how is your presentation? I love seeing drink dispensers that are on the fancier or unique looking side. The Vitajuwel line is beautiful, unique and comes elegantly packaged making a great presentation if you decide to retail them!

The Essential Essential Oils

I'm obsessed with aromatherapy and essential oils...and scented candles! I love walking into a business and being greeted by a lovely scent. It's one of the first things clients notice when they walk in....what they see, smell and hear are vital.

Are you using any essential oils in your entryway?
How about in services? Are you utilizing essential oils to enhance treatments? It can be a bit overwhelming with all of the different scents out there.

For general use for filling the main reception area or walk areas with fragrance, you can use synthetic or organic - whichever you prefer. I have spoken with many clients who try to keep the main scent in the business a subtle yet noticeable scent; you want clients to notice but not be turned off by an overwhelming scent. Light fragrances like ylang-ylang and blends like Peace & Harmony are excellent choices.

For use in rooms, you want to be sure not to choose scents that conflict with any scent(s) of the treatment. You don't want the phenomenal service to be marred by a displeasing mix of smells! You can always ask clients (I know some businesses that include this on their intake forms) what they like and don't like!

For use in services, you can pick and choose to fit your theme, the services, time of year...you can be pretty creative with this! Things like lavender, cedarneroli and peppermint are all excellent choices.

Be sure to have tester strips available for clients to choose their own and to retail!

The Little Things Count---Stand Out With A Unique Retail Gift

Businesses are always looking for ways to set themselves apart from competitors and ways to ensure they stay in clients minds. Most commonly it's through the service menu options, decor and all around attitude.

Another great and powerful way to stand out is by offering unique retail products. Here is one of my favorites.... herbal bags.

Simple yet effective and customizable. You can have pre-made bags available in different blends but, and here is where you can shine a bit brighter....offer custom blends. You can work it however you like as far as pricing goes but I know I would pay a little bit more for customized blends for myself and for giving as gifts.
