Back To School Specials!

We're in the midst of enjoying the summer, and school seems to have just let out however, summer will be winding down and before you know it, kids will be heading back to school.

Do you offer any special back to school services or incentives to boost sales? Aside from the usual end of summer hydrating body treatments, why not offer "school specials" like back or teen facials?

Everyone wants to look and FEEL their best on the first day of anything, especially the first day of school. Diamonds Are Forever - So Is Your Skin

It's never too early to be thinking about your next menu change. The holiday season will be gone in a flash, before you know it the stores will be decorated for Valentine's Day. Here is a fun mask designed to reveal your best skin! Hydrating, anti aging and can be used on the body and face.

Diamond In The Rough

In a rubber mixing bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of shea butter,1 1/2 tablespoons of Rose Hip Powder and 10 drops of rose essential oil. Place 1/2 teaspoon of this into a small rubber mixing bowl (this will be the facial mask).

In another rubber mixing bowl, add 1 tablespoon corn meal and 2 tablespoons of water and mix well (this will be the body scrub/mask).

Place the bowls into a mud warmer, hot towel cabi or stainless steel bowl of hot water.

Prepare to start with dry brushing (our best selling for service and retail are here!) the client's skin, starting at the feet and working up. Remove the body scrub/mask from the warmer - check the temp before applying to your client! Apply the scrub/mask, paying extra attention to any dry areas. Wrap the client in plastic sheeting, cover with a thermal blanket and leave on for 15- 20 minutes.

During this time, cleanse the client's face, remove the facial mask from the warmer and apply to the decollete and face, massaging the product in.

Remove the blanket, plastic and escort the client to the shower (unless you have a vichy shower to make it even easier!), or dry brush the skin again to remove excess product and use warm moist towels to clean up.

Finish up with a full body moisturizer (the Alchimie Forever Daily Defense Cream SPF 23, and Intensive Age Defying Hydrating Complex are best sellers across the world!) and apply sunscreen to the face.

Movember Is Here!

And in it's peak at that! November is drawing to a close, but does your Spa celebrate the Movember movement? Not familiar? Movember, or No-Shave November, is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches and beards during the month of November to raise awareness of various cancers. I'm sure you see many of your male clients sporting new facial hair that they haven't had all year to support this wonderful cause. It might be a great time to incorporate specials for your clients during this month!

Prep for Turkey Day with Holiday Pedicures!

Now that the excitement of Halloween has died down, Thanksgiving is almost here! Are you going to be offering any Thanksgiving nail specials to entice existing and attract new clients? Offering something new and different from your competition will have your clients ?

Here is a pedicure treatment to ease dry, tired feet whether your clients will be cooking, socializing or shopping!

Thanksgiving Pedicure - complete with a foot soak, masque and moisturizer

Foot Soak:
Add 8 drops of spearmint essential oil and 4 drops rosemary essential oil to your filled pedicure bowl or tub (you can easily make this more "manly" by using cedarwood or sandalwood instead of rosemary oil)


Foot Masque:
In a rubber mixing bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of Sedona Mud Powder with 1 tablespoon of water and stir. Add in 1 teaspoon of clove powder and mix well. Add in 5 drops of spearmint essential oil followed by 1 1/2 tablespoons of cornmeal and mix well. As the mixture sits,the cornmeal may absorb the water, slowly add more as needed. Place the bowl into a hot towel cabi or mud warmer.

Moisturizer:
Combine 1/2 tablespoon whipped shea butter with 3 drops of spearmint and 2 drops rosemary essential oil (again, you can switch the rosemary oil for male clients if they prefer). Place the bowl into a hot towel cabi or mud warmer as well.

Soak the clients feet for 5-10 minutes after cleaning and disinfecting them. Apply the foot masque to one foot to just above the knee. Place a plastic liner and electric or herbal bootie over the foot before moving to the other leg/foot. Allow the masque to sit for 10 minutes before removing the bootie. Cut the tip of the liner to allow you to access the clients toes. Perform your regular pedicure procedure (check out the new polishes!) while the masque sits on the clients legs. Remove the liner and mixture when finished - hot towels work great for this! Finish off with the moisturizer, giving any excess to the client to take home.

Small Business Saturday---Don't Miss Out On Getting Yourself Recognized!

Every radio and television station is filled with adds for Black Friday and Cyber Monday which are almost upon us. Still rather new, in it's fourth year, is Small Business Saturday. Many folks think of their local mom and pop retail stores but it is also an excellent opportunity to draw in new client, new awareness in your area and to create some excitement in your business in general.

I've spoken to a few people in the industry who are starting to think of ways to capitalize on this new shopping holiday. If you've never thought about how you can benefit from Small Business Saturday, or are looking for a jumping off point...here are some ideas.

Many local newspapers offer free advertising, which is always an easy way to get the word out. A simple ad showcasing your business and even offering a new client discount is a free way of getting someone in the door.

Window banners and/or signs out front are a great way to catch street traffic. I would have a banner in the window near the holidays that said Massage $49.95 in GIANT letters. This was enough to get people in the door out of curiosity. This enabled me to show the potential client everything we offered aside from the massage special.

In the spa/salon advertise a Small Business Saturday special or event. You can host raffles, giveaways, special packages for existing and new clients. You can make it as big or small of an event as you like.

If you have the resources, grab some air time on a local radio station or local television channel.

Offer your existing clients a special deal where if they bring a friend in on Small Business Saturday they each get a complimentary add on or gift; whatever is best for you.

Set up a special holiday retail section in your business. If you feel like offering a one day sale or promotion even better! Here are some great gift options:

Celebrate!!!! Keeping Your Clients Happy and Increasing Revenue

Keeping your clients happy is as imperative as offering quality services. Providing quality services is a must as we all know but the thing that sets decent businesses apart from the ones who are always growing is how special their clients feel.

It really doesn't take much to make people feel like you really care about them - not just their business. With a bit of creativity you can tailor ways to show your clients you are invested in their well-being. Package deals are great money saving options but don't really convey a personal caring touch that people respond to.

Some of our clients offer monthly giveaways either by raffle or by guessing the number of an item in a jar.
Others offer loyalty cards where after a set number of services they get a discount or a free add on.
Another great cost effective idea is to offer an add on treatment that will benefit the individual client based on their needs. Explain why this would be beneficial to them and offer a free demonstration or even let them experience the treatment for the first time at no charge.

Birthday or client anniversary dates are great times to show how much you care with something as simple as a personalized card signed by the staff with a coupon enclosed.
