Waterproof Treatment Table?

One of my favorite things is discussing with clients their menu options (you didn't think we're just order takers, right? We live for this industry!) and bringing new treatments in.

Over the years, many clients have held back from offering treatments that involve mud or water, if they don't have a wet table and vichy shower (want to bring those in? click here to check out financing!) for mess concerns. While the Lotus Touch Seaweed Gel Wrap is a phenomenal option (seriously, check out this post for why it's a #1 choice for many small businesses looking for big profit with no mess), for clients looking to expand into things like muds, there's another solution!

The Waterproof Spa Treatment Sheet Set is just the thing needed to crush it this season with body wraps! It not only keeps moisture out, it's also machine washable! The set includes a fitted sheet and face cradle cover, and did I mention it's under $20? For less than $20 you can transform your treatment table into a body wrap sanctuary!

Not sure what mud to start with? Here are some top favorites from our clients all across the globe:

Raw Alaska Glacial Mineral Mud - this is my all time favorite mud. The quality is unparalleled, you can choose from powder or pre-mixed, and there are retail items to boost sales even more. It also happens to be the most mineral rich mud on the market. Want to know more? Click here for more on how and why you should consider this line.

Moor Mud - this was my favorite mud before I tried the Alaska mud. While the options don't include lavender or peppermint like the Alaska mud, take a look at this as well!

Sedona Mud - this is a red mud that one of our 5 star resort clients has on hand at all times. The one they prefer is this one by Spa Pantry, their clients love the scent!

European Rose Body Mud - Nourish + Moisturize + Heal + Replenish by Biotone- I used this in my massage practice and it was a client favorite. A cream based mud with hydrating oils like sunflower and avocado, this leaves the skin feeling silky smooth

Take a look at all of the different body wrap options here, after adding the waterproof treatment table to your cart!

Not sure what else you need to get started now that you've got a waterproof table? Give us a call or shoot me an email (christine@purespadirect.com) and I'd be happy to help!

Utilizing Small Spaces in Your Business

Small on space? Don't let that stop you from getting the equipment you need to take your business to the next level!

The key is making the area work for you to maximize work areas, especially if you offer multiple services in one room. You also want to be sure to not have the room look cluttered or unprofessional. Things like the Window Pane Room Divider with Shelves are great for small rooms. Separating an area helps the overall feel of the room, and you can use the shelves to tie into your decor, or to highlight retail items.

From portable skin scrubbers and hand held lamps to multifunction units - there's no reason to hold back just because you're working out of a room or smaller space! Don't forget space saving carts, folding stools, and room dividers to get the most out of the room!

With some imagination you can create a beautiful and functional space to give your clients an amazing experience!

Inspirational Saturday: Dad of the YEAR Holds Class to Teach Other Dads How to Do Their Daughter's Hair!

As a mom, I absolutely love to see stories about awesome Dads. Even better is when those awesome Dads really step outside their comfort zone to do something especially fantastic for their daughters, like one dad did.

Philippe Morgese is a single dad to a daughter - a daughter who has hair, and wants to look pretty! He started polishing his little-girl hairstyling skills to step up his daughter's hair game, and started getting compliments and even requests for advice from other Dads. What is a man to do?

Philippe, realizing that he is not alone in his quest for pretty hair (for his daughter, of course!), decided to do an amazing thing - he held a free class in South Daytona, FL for fellow dads called the "Daddy Daughter Hair Factory." He approached a local beauty school, The International Academy in South Daytona about donating space for his free class, and they thought it was a great idea. For his first class, Philippe had 7 Dads and Daughters turn out, and he says they "Did great!" The course covered basic hair brushing, pony tails, braids, and buns. He even sent the dads home with goody bags to continue their hair quest at home!

Philippe saw a need and wanted to fill it. I think this is something amazing he is doing for his community, and is something he should be very proud of! Small businesses need to have the support of their local community in order to succeed, and giving back to the community in a meaningful way helps you not only better yourself as a person, help someone in need, but it goes a long way in showing the community the type of values you built your business on. What are some of your favorite ways to give back to your community?

Maximizing Your Spa Retail Space

I read an interesting article on Skin Inc (you can read the article here) recently about smaller businesses and the challenges they may face when it comes to retailing.

The article recommends for smaller retail spaces, to carry three product lines to offer to your clients.

Having too many choices can lead to clients not getting anything as they may feel overwhelmed or fear of getting the wrong item - especially if they do not ask for your advice!

When choosing a retail line, as the article explains, it is important to keep in mind the type of clientele you have, the area you live in and what the clients are looking for. I know many clients who periodically poll their clients about everything from the services they offer, retail items right down to any aromatherapy/fragrance in the business. Not only does this ensure you will be offering what your clients want, it shows them that you care about them, not just their money.

Here are some of the most popular retail lines that we see trending right now:

Alchimie Forever - a phenomenal line from Switzerland that was created by a dermatologist that is great even for the most sensitive skin. It was created to be used on over sensitized skin and even clients with rosacea! From cleansers and moisturizer to a scrub and contouring gel, this line will be a hit with all of your clients

June Jacobs - always a favorite! No parabens or preservatives and chock full of natural ingredients like goji berries, another line that will leave your clients running back for more!

Organic Botanicals - a newer addition here, this line has quickly become one of our best sellers due to the variety of products and their effectiveness. Everything from serums, deep pore cleaners and toners to products you can use in services like gommage peels. Take some time to look at this line, you won't regret it!

Heading into summer is the perfect time to switch up what you are offering!

Small Business Saturday---Don't Miss Out On Getting Yourself Recognized!

Every radio and television station is filled with adds for Black Friday and Cyber Monday which are almost upon us. Still rather new, in it's fourth year, is Small Business Saturday. Many folks think of their local mom and pop retail stores but it is also an excellent opportunity to draw in new client, new awareness in your area and to create some excitement in your business in general.

I've spoken to a few people in the industry who are starting to think of ways to capitalize on this new shopping holiday. If you've never thought about how you can benefit from Small Business Saturday, or are looking for a jumping off point...here are some ideas.

Many local newspapers offer free advertising, which is always an easy way to get the word out. A simple ad showcasing your business and even offering a new client discount is a free way of getting someone in the door.

Window banners and/or signs out front are a great way to catch street traffic. I would have a banner in the window near the holidays that said Massage $49.95 in GIANT letters. This was enough to get people in the door out of curiosity. This enabled me to show the potential client everything we offered aside from the massage special.

In the spa/salon advertise a Small Business Saturday special or event. You can host raffles, giveaways, special packages for existing and new clients. You can make it as big or small of an event as you like.

If you have the resources, grab some air time on a local radio station or local television channel.

Offer your existing clients a special deal where if they bring a friend in on Small Business Saturday they each get a complimentary add on or gift; whatever is best for you.

Set up a special holiday retail section in your business. If you feel like offering a one day sale or promotion even better! Here are some great gift options:

Mani/Pedi Pack (you can fill this pack with any items you like such as nippers, toe nail clippers, orangewood sticks, buffing blocks, nail files and Super Duper Mini Pumice Bars. You can have them customizable too! the more creative the more appealing it will be to your clients!)

My favorite items for gift packs (as well as receiving them!) are the Extended Vacation retail line. You can offer everything individually or offer them as sets.

CND Scentsations line offers different scents and sizes

As always, with a little creativity you can bring awareness to your community, your existing clients while having fun and increasing profits!
