Slim Down As The Year Winds Down

I still cannot believe we're already into October, this year is flying by!

Detox and slimming treatments are always trending, however the end of the year always shows a big push in detox services. Clients want to look their absolute best for events, parties and reunions.

If you're looking to add something new to your body wraps, here is an extremely profitable recipe idea, to have your clients feeling bright and tight!

Slim It Down!

In large rubber mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup of green tea powder with 1 teaspoon of borage oil. After mixing well, add in 3/4 cup of dead sea mud and 2 teaspoons of grapeseed oil. Mix this all up well, and place the bowl in a mud warmer, hot towel cabinet or even a large stainless bowl filled with hot water. You want the mixture to be warm when applying to the client.

Perform the body wrap as you normally would, along with any add ons like dry brushing, Eco Fin or a scalp massage. Add on services are a great way to further boost profits and increase clients satisfaction!

No matter what climate you live in, there will always be clients coming to you for products and treatments aimed at hydration.

An effective and simple hydrating product to use in services and to retail are flower waters. From the elegant scent of jasmine to the delicate floral scent of real roses, they can easily be used in facial services. They also make an easy retail item, especially for busy clients on the go. Small enough to toss into a travel bag or purse, clients can feel refreshed anytime, any place!

Menu Spotlight: Back Acne Be Gone!!!

Since this is the season of dare to bare, people want their skin as flawless as possible without having to spend a fortune. If you have clients with back acne, this is a great, affordable (yet cost AND time effective for your business!) treatment to test out in your Summer menu.

Back Masque - think of a clever name to fit your menu theme/style!

In a medium rubber mixing bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of marine fango with 4-6 drops of eucalyptus oil. Prep your bed for a body treatment, placing a protective covering on. Place a heating pad set on low on the table, so that it will line up under the client's back area. Spread a layer of the masque on to a disposable pad, and place on the heating pad. You can also apply the masque to the client's back with a body brush, and have them lie down on the disposable pad and heating pad.

If you've up sold the client into services to be done at the same time, begin those will the client is laying on the masque.

Once the other services have been completed, remove the back masque with warm, damp towels.

Need to Brighten Your Menu? How About A Strawberry Margarita Manicure

Looking for something to infuse new life into your Summer menu? Check out the Strawberry Margarita Manicure!

This treatment is great for exfoliating and moisturizing dry dehydrated skin and will have your clients feeling like they're lounging on the beach with an umbrella drink.

Hand Soak:
Add 6 drops of lime essential oil to a manicure bowl. For an added touch, float strawberry leaves or lime slices in the water!

Hand Rub:
Comebine 1/4 cup of epsom salts, 1/4 cup of coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of strawberry leaves to a rubber mixing bowl and mix well. Add in 6 drops of lime essential oil and blend together. Place the bowl in a mud warmer or hot towel cabinet.

Hand Masque:
Combine 2 tablespoons or rose clay powder, 2 teaspoons of aloe gel, 1 teaspoon coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of water and mix well in a rubber mixing bowl. Blend in 6 drops of lime essential oil. Place in a mud warmer or hot towel cabinet.

Follow your regular manicure protocol starting with the soak and followed by the rub and masque!

Client Loyalty- A Vital Key To Success!

How are you showing your repeat clients that you appreciate them choosing to give their hard earned money, to you? The staff members saying "thank you" and "have a nice day", while sincere, are expected as a common courtesy in business. What are you doing to thank them for coming back to see you, and not to your competition? What is your competition doing that keeps their clients from coming to see you? Are your clients feeling bored or like just another dollar sign? Those feelings are what lead your clients to go "try something new" - your competition...with the potential of not coming back.

If you're not sure, concerned or want to simply start going above and beyond what your clients expect, May 1st is the day for you to start! May 1st is National Loyalty Day, while not one of the major holidays in the world, it's a great opportunity to shine.

You can choose to have a special service at a discounted rate, or even a special menu (awesome opportunity to test out anything you've been wanting to bring on but weren't sure how it would sell) for just your VIP clients if you have tiers. The ways to work this are limited only by what you want the outcome to be!

Never miss and opportunity to wow your clients and show them you appreciate them. If you don't, your competition will!

Showerless Slimming Service For Summer!

Seriously (I can't help it!), slimming treatments are always a hot menu item during the summer. I've spoken to a few clients who were shying away from stepping out of their normal menu due to not having a shower. Not having a shower does not mean you have to lose out on offering services - you just need to get a little creative :)

Combining Services For Better Results

Is your staff running into difficulty or resistance when up-selling complimentary services to clients?

Sometimes clients may not realize the reasons you are offering them additional services, aside from what they request. They may just be thinking you are trying to boost profits - which while that is true, it's not (should not) the only reason you are. The benefits of combining services to enhance their results is what they need to be made are of.

A great example is a client coming in for a body treatment. Going into winter, detox and cellulite treatments should start to increase. A client coming in for a detoxifying body scrub should also be getting a massage. A client coming in for a massage, should be getting a body scrub with dry brushing. Combining services like these enhances the overall result including increased relaxation. Explaining to your clients how dry brushing and a using a scrub like the Desert Mineral Detox prior to a massage will soften the skin, improve relaxation and help flush toxins in addition to the massage benefits.

Are Your Clients Bored? Check Out Some Ideas to Keep 'Em Coming!

Even with seasonal menu changes, clients can become used to your menu options which can lead to boredom - which can lead to them checking out what your competition is offering.

Are you offering things like "treatment of the day/month"? This is a great way to get clients to try new services, even at a discounted rate. You can introduce them to the next level of service, improve their results and increase their loyalty to you. Be sure to pick something from different categories each month to expand what your clients are coming in for. Things like microcurrent, high frequency, and body wraps are always great. Even offering an add on off the month like Eco-Fin or a collagen neck treatment can be successful for clients who have been on the fence about trying something new.

Do you have staff picks displayed in your retail section? Clients like to see what the professionals recommend and use themselves. This is a great way to boost retail sales and again, introduce new products and services to clients. As you've probably seen, once you get your clients talking they are more open to suggestions.

I've seen great success in companies that offer a monthly "how to" class. Whether it be proper techniques to use at home or on how to pick products for their skin type. Be sure to have products ready to demo, samples, sample jars and for purchase.

It's no secret that the demand for men's services has been on a steady rise for quite some time. It was interesting to see a survey of the most poplar services among "millennial men" - ages 18-35. A survey done by the International SPA Association found that 47% of spa goers are men; almost half now!

Men are going in for more than just a cut, shave or massage.  Cosmetic procedures, facials and manicures are popular with this age group. Also popular, at 52% of the men surveyed, are anti aging treatments, acne and skin hydration issues.

For this age group, the stigma of the spa being too girly for guys has long passed. They understand the importance of taking care of their skin and the importance of quality products to use at home.

With that being said, are you offering more than just cuts and shaves specifically marketed towards men? By adding an essential oil such as cedarwood to a treatment can give it a more manly touch.

Hydrate Your Hair!

Keeping with the theme of summer winding down, and the sun, sand and surf taking a toll on the body. Here is a great recipe to add to your end of summer services! It's a hydrating hair treatment chock full of products to hydrate and alleviate dry itchy scalp symptoms.

Hydrating Hair Saver
In a mixing bowl, combine 2T of Moor Mud, 2 drops Cinnamon Leaf Pure Essential Oil, 2 drops Peppermint Pure Essential Oil  and .5ML of Vitamin E Skin Oil. Mix until all the ingredients are incorporated. Place the bowl into another bowl of warm water, or a mud warmer.

Shampoo and towel dry the client's hair (you want the hair to be damp) as you normally would. Apply the moor mud mixture to each section of the hair making sure to massage the scalp. Once the entire head has been coated and massaged, wrap in a DRY warm towel (black is always a good choice when working with moor mud!) or you can cover them with a shower cap and heat cap and have them sit under the dryer. Leave the client wrapped for 10-15 minutes before shampooing. Rinse and condition as you normally would.

Very simple add on to your regular services!

Pushing Back The Hands Of Time With Skin Tightening Services

Almost every woman I know at some point (usually close to or shortly after their 30th birthday), has looked in the mirror, pulled their cheeks back towards their ears, and let it drop....repeatedly. This seems to happen more frequently as each year passes. We try to see how much (never how little) our skin is sagging, changing and/or showing the inevitable signs of aging.

Anti-aging treatments are the most popular and sought after services in women ages 35-55. That is a whole lot of people that should be coming in to see you regularly!

What types of services are you offering aside from anti-aging masks to address skin tightening concerns?

There are many incredible treatment options that have been found effective for skin tightening, here is a short list:



  • LED Therapy (aka light therapy)- the low levels of light energy help stimulate collagen production resulting in a skin tightening effect over time.
  • Microcurrent - the low level electrotherapy increases circulation, tones the muscles in the skin, and helps stimulate the body processes that aid in repair and rejuvenation.

It is important you advise your clients that in order to be effective, these treatments need to be done regularly. Take this opportunity to educate them on how these work, the benefits/results they will see over time and you will be able to offer them amazing package deals!
