Kermit The Frog Was Wrong, it IS easy being green - When You're Green Tea

It's no mystery to many adults these days that drinking green tea can be good for your health. Some may even know that it's chock full of antioxidants, some may not. Those same antioxidants can be just as good for peoples outsides as well as their insides!

Green tea, aside from tasting good, has been found to help prevent collagen breakdown making it a favorite for fine lines and wrinkles. Green tea has also been shown to help draw out impurities and aid in healing the skin - hello, twofer?!? Pulling out impurities while moisturizing - add is some hyaluronic acid to lock that moisture in and you have yourself a ninja treatment.

Clients with dark and/or puffy issues under the eyes? Green tea can help reduce inflammation and help to increase circulation. A green tea facial with an add on of baby magic globes, and the Revitalizing Eye Gel by June Jacobs, sounds soothing right? I closed my eyes just thinking about it! Don't forget to retail your add ons!

If you need me, I'm heading to the kitchen to make some green tea! Send me an email at christine@purespadirect.com if you have any questions while I'm away :)

Baby Magic Globes - Retail, Travel or Treatment

If your clients are like me, traveling can be a bloat buster. I don't know if it's salty airport food, the margaritas, fatigue or just water retention, but my face ALWAYS shows the tell tale signs with puffiness on my lower and upper lids. I do use the original magic globes and frozen gel masks when I am home, but it is hard to travel with these unless your hotel has a freezer to keep them icy. So my heart rejoiced when I saw these mini, baby globes!
My Favorite Magic Wands!
Perfect for Retail
Perfect for Travel

These little guys are the perfect size for travel and can be easily chilled, just place them in a glass of ice or ice bucket (every hotel has an ice machine). I usually just order a glass of ice with room service at breakfast, and let the globes chill while eating. In about 10-15 minutes these blue globes are ready to unpack my eye bags. I like to apply facial oil to help with the glide (you never want to pull on the skin) and use a rolling motion the eyes, face neck and temples. Sometimes, I will re-chill the globes and go for a second round of massage after my shower. These little magic mini globes are also great for sinuses, headaches, post waxing and extractions.

Ditch those heavy, puffy eyes... capture that wide eyed look again! Suggested retail price is: $49.99

Quick Fix Add-On's For Puffy Eyes

A common problem some women experience is puffy eyes. Puffy eyes are caused from fluid build up in the tissues around your eyes. The skin around the eyes is very thin and is full of blood vessels which make it very sensitive. If it is simply eye puffiness that is not caused by other eye conditions, there are quick fixes you can offer your clients to temporarily diminish this. However, along with this quick fix of a mask or eye pad, you can educate your clients on the various causes of puffy eyes.

Most Common Causes of Eye Puffiness:
  • Not enough sleep
  • High salt and alcohol intake
  • Crying
  • Stress
  • Allergies
  • Makeup residue
  • Exposure to irritants
  • Dry skin
To avoid the causes like dry skin, makeup residue, and irritants, you can let your clients knows the importance of moisturizing not just the skin on their face, but the eye area as well, removing all traces of makeup before bed, and checking ingredients in their makeup and skin care products. For other causes, that aren't as easy to avoid, you can offer them an eye mask or pad during their treatments. It is a great add-on to increase profits and your clients will love the end result!

Quick Fixes!

Witch Hazel: Nature's ALL-Purpose Skin Purifier

I recently discovered the major benefits of Witch Hazel while on a quest for a new facial toner.  As a person with combination oily and dry skin, finding a toner that removes oil while not drying out my skin has been a challenge.  The majority of drug store toners contain chemicals and alcohol which can strip the skin rather than tone it, but witch hazel is different!

Witch Hazel is an all-natural astringent that is derived from a flowering shrub located in North America, Japan and China.  For centuries, people across the globe have been using the extract from the bark and leaves to clean and calm a multitude of skin issues including cuts, bruises, swelling and bug bites.  Since witch hazel is high in 'Tannins,' otherwise known as 'Tannic Acid,' it naturally causes swollen blood vessels to contract and shrink.

Here are just a few examples of how you can implement Witch Hazel into your services:

  1. Facial toner for all skin types, including normal, oily, dry, combination and acneic skin.
  2. Topical treatment of acneic and blemished skin.
  3. Pre-depilatory cleanser.
  4. Post-depilatory skin soother and cleanser.
  5. Varicose vein treatment.
  6. Aftershave treatment for men.

**Insiders Tip**  The most beneficial witch hazel is the type that is non-distilled AND alcohol-free.  My favorite line is by Humphreys Pharmacal Inc - Check out the Cucumber & Melon Redness-Diffusing Witch Hazel Astringent.
