Just Getting Started On Your New Business? We Can Help!

Are you a new Spa or Beauty Business Owner just getting started? You probably plan on opening in about 6 months, or maybe even 1 month if you're feeling ambitious! I know, I know... it could go from being the most exciting endeavor in the world, to simultaneously feeling like you're overwhelmed and don't even know where to begin. Well, you definitely came to the right place! We help future business owners like yourself gather everything they need for their new business each and everyday!

I recently helped a new client gather everything she needed for her spa. This was one year in the making, too! She contacted me last August, mentioning that she was planning on opening up her brand new spa in a few months. She sent me a complete list of everything she intended on ordering - everything from Facial Beds for her treatment rooms, to trolleys, steamers, and even massage oils, and waxing sticks. I was excited to help her on her new endeavor! I noticed a few items were missing, such as pre-and post wax oils, and even made recommendations on new treatments that she should incorporate, like lash and brow tint to jump start her business and keep up with her client's needs. I helped her finalize her list, and ensured she had everything she needed to get started on this exciting (yet slightly stressful) new venture!

Upon completion of her list, which - keep in mind - was a little under three weeks before her opening, I processed the order for her, and made her feel at ease that all of the supplies she ordered were in stock, and will get to her exactly when she needed them by - an essential for every business owner! She's been back to place follow up orders, and her spa has been very successful since.

If you're a new business owner and feeling anxious about gathering everything you need, please contact us. We have everything you need, and we are happy to help!

Grow Your Business With Pure Spa Direct!

One of the things I love most about what we do here at Pure Spa Direct, is helping our clients build and update their businesses - whether it's a client just starting out who needs help with everything from floor to ceiling and front to back or a client looking to update the look and/or feel of the business.

I recently helped a client, who had been ordering her daily supplies and retail items with us for years, update the entire look of her salon. From her reception furniture and decor, right through to upgrading her aging equipment. She didn't realize all of the equipment and furniture we had in addition to her supplies! We went through what she was looking to achieve in her business, and consolidated some equipment into multi-function units. This way, she saved space and increased the services she was able to offer. She had no idea that we offered financing as well! She was able to update her salon, increase the amount of services (and profits!) she could offer all while keeping her cash flow positive.

We are not simply a supplier, we are here to help achieve your dreams, visions and goals for your business and clients! It's what we live for!

Easy Tips To Boost Retail Sales This Holiday Season

Looking to really boost your retail sales? With the holidays quickly approaching now is a good time to take a look at the products you offer, along with these great ideas/tips to maximize your area and efforts!

When was the list time you changed the items you retail? I'm not saying ditch product lines or anything however, your clients can and will become bored with seeing the same items every time. Mix it up by throwing in some unique items to catch the eye. Things like Therapearls, salt lamps, raw mud soap, and the Desert Mineral Detox Body Scrub - Anti-Cellulite Formula (this is our most popular retail item!)

What type of music are you playing in your business? Do you have different music for your rooms and main area? Having more upbeat music by the register (I'm not suggesting blasting dance music or making a drastic change) has been shown to energize clients after their services, putting them more in that buying mood.

It's no secret that impulse buying is the easiest way to boost sales. If you don't have something little, budget friendly and useful by the cash register, you're missing out on the easiest of sales! Things like the wet brush squirts, lip balms (Eco-Fin body balm is phenomenal!), tweezer displays, hair ties even facial/body tanners set by the checkout are top sellers!

Do you have any lighting in your retail area? Back lighting shelves is a great idea however, just being sure there is adequate lighting may be enough to bring attention back to the area.

Do you have pricing on your retail items? Most people will not purchase an item if there is no price attached to it. They may feel uncomfortable asking the price, not purchasing after knowing the price (whether they were just curious or can't afford it) or just not even bother asking at all. Take a few extra minutes to label your retail items. It doesn't have to be an unattractive stock label, you can create them to fit your style.

This one I found interesting - is there a mirror in your retail area? No matter what you are retailing, people like to see themselves. Even a handheld discreet one can make the difference....a $3.00 investment that can really pay off!

Be sure to have "tester" products out for your clients. People are more likely to buy items they can touch, smell and try out. Be sure to label the bottles "tester" just so there is no confusion!

Even if you change up your retail area twice a year, it may be enough to keep those profits on the rise. If you're not sure what you want to retail, give us a call!!!

March Retail Madness!

Forget basketball, March is a great time for a new retail item push!

Spring has officially sprung, despite what the weather says, warmer weather is quickly approaching! Now is the time to start offering retail products geared towards fresh faces! Brightening, hydrating, quality self tanners, and detox products are just some of the items we've seen clients have great success retailing in March.

Here are some top picks that we see fly out of the warehouse starting March 1st:

Desert Mineral Detox Body Scrub - Anti-Cellulite Formula by Extended Vacation - this is a perfect retail item all year round! It's also the easiest product to retail simply by demonstrating how soft it leaves the skin! This is also available in a back bar size to use in services!

Facial Tanner - Moroccan Mineral Shimmering Sands by Extended Vacation - the best facial tanner I've ever come across, I can't live without it. Our client's rave not only about how easy it is to apply but how happy their client's are with the results.

Moroccan Mineral Dark Self Tanning Lotion for the Body by Extended Vacation - to go with those fabulous tanned faces! I'm also addicted to how great this smells, how easy it is to apply without mistakes!  Many client's offer each of the three above individually as well as in a retail bundle!

Ingrown Zone by Mancine Professional - bikini season is coming! Help your clients deal and prevent ingrown hairs so they can rock those little bikini bottoms with confidence! These are also great for use under the arms, face, neck and legs!

Alchimie Forever Daily Defense Cream SPF 23 - this line was created by a dermatologist in Switzerland for use on over sensitized skin. Perfect for clients with sensitive skin, who are acne prone or even clients with rosacea. Hydrating cream with spf - your clients will thank you!

Alchimie Forever Kantic Brightening Moisture Mask - the best selling brightening mask for retail, it's even a celebrity favorite!

Toners by Oxygen Botanicals - there's one for normal/dry skin and one for oily/combination skin. Great for refining pores, removing surface oils and providing the skin with antioxidants.

Guy's Night--More Than Just Manly Grooming

When I hear a spa is doing a guy's night, I think of the business offering monetary incentives to get guys in the door. I also think of featuring manly-named services to help ease any stress the guys may feel about going into a spa. While this may be the case at many spas/salons, it's not the only approach to a guy's night.

I was reading an article over the weekend about a spa going about guy's night differently than I expected. They pick one night a month (or however often the need seems to be) typically a Sunday, and stay open an extra two hours, for only men.  During those two hours, no women are allowed, the spa becomes the man cave. Complete with complimentary snacks and alcohol, the guys can have a staff member help the guys in a laid back manner, pretty much as a personal shopper. They can help pick out gifts for the women in their life, products or even gift certificates. Everything during those guy's nights is also at a discounted rate as an added incentive. As a bonus, the guys can even chat with the staff members about any skin concerns they may be having. They can get treatment and product recommendations without feeling uncomfortable, since all the guys are there for the same reasons!

Having the guy's night event scheduled around holidays (especially Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, etc) is a great way to boost gift certificate and retail sales. Most guys have no clue about quality skin care products for the women in their life, and will trust the recommendations from an experienced professional. Plus, they will get bonus points for an awesome, thoughtful gift!

Are you currently hosting anything similar? Either way, be sure to stock up on those gift certificates, retail items like lotions, scrubs (Desert Mineral Detox Scrub is heavenly!), skin care (Alchimie Forever is incredible!), men's products like the Grooming Lounge, facial tanner, body tanner and even candles! Don't forget the gift bags to make their lives even easier!

Bulk Sample Jars To Increase Retail Sales!

I get excited about new retail items both for business to utilize but also for their clients.

We sell a ton of sample jars every day which is why I'm super excited about the new bulk packs we just added.

Fun colors, bulk packs to save you money and a great way for you to get your client's to fall in love with your retail lines. You work hard to provide amazing services and spent time picking out retail lines that your clients should be familiar with (make sure to check out our newest addition that is one of the best on the market today, Alchimie Forever). A great way to get client's interested is to offer a small sample of a product that aligns with their specific skin issues and goals.  It also makes an easier transition to market the products in a non aggressive
way!

Setting Yourself Apart From Your Competition

One of the main goals in any business is to be remembered for great services, experiences, staff and results. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming to seem unique or find ways to set yourself apart from your competitors. While the main thing owners/managers tend to focus on is the service menu, there are small details that can have huge results.

I just read an article in DAYSPA magazine that got me thinking of the different businesses I've been to over the years that stuck in my head, and why. I'll never forget years ago I went to a salon and they had someone going around with a refreshment cart to offer complimentary cucumber water, tea, wine and champagne and little nibbles. At that time, I'd never been to a salon that had anything other than a water cooler with paper cups. Almost 20 years later and I still remember the salon.

Offering a selection of herbal teas or something as simple as infused water may be the extra something that sets you apart for them.

Another option, rather than offering a groupon deal, discounts or coupons is to gift clients with a goodie bag of product samples from your retail line. It's a great way to introduce the products to clients and they feel appreciated when given a special gift. Take it a step further and let them choose 2 or 3 products they've been dying to try but haven't committed to purchasing yet. If you aren't retailing, it's a great time to start. You can significantly increase your profits by retailing quality lines and showing the value to your clients.

Do you offer a rewards club or member card? Giving clients a card to punch every time they receive a service leading up to a free service may be enough to get them to come in more often than if they never received any incentive. Also, have your technicians ASK clients for their card to punch. This instills a different level of confidence in your appreciation for the client. I know many times I've remembered about my loyalty card AFTER I left and it was too late.

Are you located in an area with shops, theaters or restaurants? There is a great opportunity for businesses to help each other with referral services. You could offer light appetizers from a local restaurant, offer to book a reservation for your clients while they are getting their services done or have the restaurant offer to add one of your services onto their guest's check.

Thinking outside of the box and even asking your clients for feedback on what would make their overall experience better is a great way to stay ahead of the competition and boost client retention.
