Back To School Stress!

Now that most, if not all schools have started back up, some parents have a little extra free time during the day, or are back to regular work schedules. Those back to regular schedules can start to feel like they are running all over the place.

The before school morning rush getting the kid(s) up and out the door while attempting to get themselves ready for work can be similar to a circus. The commute to work during the school year seems to take twice as long - hullo stress! After work many parents are off to practice, games, and other various after school programs - don't forget play dates! Throw in the usual every day things like cleaning, cooking, helping with homework and a variety of other tasks - many parents are always on the "go, go, GO" time schedule.

Have you thought about marketing specifically to those types of clients? Have a back to school special for parents! You can have set days/times to offer super relaxing treatments - with no kids allowed! Heck, even have a quiet room where guests can relax in comfy chairs (like the Loafah Chaise + Spa-Massage Treatment Table) with dim lighting (led candles!), soft music and relaxing teas or cucumber water (the Vitajuwel Decanter Set is the way to go!)to just enjoy some uninterrupted quiet time. International Men's Day 2015

November 19th is International Men's Day, not one of the days that seems to get as much attention.

This is a perfect opportunity for you to pull in more male clients, sell more men's grooming products and set yourself apart from your competition, who may not even be aware this day exists!

Making the day all about the guys can be done in so many ways! Have some guy friendly themes, if you have televisions, put on some games, have "manly" finger foods and essential oils/candles going. Many guys still can feel uncomfortable going in for services which is why having a day where they know they're not going to be "the only guy" , can be the only chance you get for some of them.

Of course you want to feature the services you offer that they can benefit from aside from manicures and massages. Coffee infused body treatments, "grooming for success" packages that include cuts, facials, manicures and shaves are a great idea! Use this as a chance to educate guys on how easy a skin care routine can be. Have quality retail items on hand, demo them too - once they see how simple it can be, and how much the women in their life will appreciate it, they'll be hooked!

Be sure to have samples available as well. There may be some guys who won't outwardly admit they want to try something, but if you pass out samples, you have a good chance of them taking the time to try it!

Poolside Services - An Interesting Trend

Have you ever been on vacation, lounging by the pool all relaxed not wanting to move and wondering how it could get any better?  What if, while you were laying there you were also getting a manicure, pedicure even a body scrub!

What does this mean for your business? Once you've done your research and connected with the appropriate people at the hotel, resort, B&B, country club or any place your creativity takes you...time to plan the menu!

Psoriasis and You

August is Psoriasis awareness month, a perfect time to market your services to a specific clientele. It may sound odd, but there may be people out there unaware of how you can help them deal with their Psoriasis. You have an amazing opportunity to create a life long relationship with a group of people who will be thankful for your expertise and relief!

Psoriasis can be a painful and embarrassing for those who suffer from it. Many may not even realize how a trip to the spa can benefit them.  To start, a relaxing day at the spa is something everyone can and should benefit from.  Advertising how you can help them mentally AND physically is key.

Mud treatments are excellent for those who suffer from psoriasis. The minerals in the mud can be  soothing on sensitive skin. Something like the Raw Alaska Glacial Mineral Mud is an excellent choice for those with skin conditions such as psoriasis. It is the most mineral rich mud on the market today. It is gentle and hydrating yet it still draws impurities out of the skin - an amazing combination for sensitive skin! Massage For Allergies

With the change in seasons and sometimes chaotic weather changes, many people suffer from allergies. From itchy eyes and sneezing to headaches and full body aches, allergies can make people all around miserable.

Are you marketing your massage services to allergy sufferers? Massage is excellent for helping people deal with their allergy symptoms yet most people aren't aware of this! This is where we as massage therapists come in to educate them!

Massage is excellent at treating headaches, body pains, it boost circulation and reduce stress. It's a big circle, the symptoms are stressing the client out which is making them focus on the symptoms, making them worse. If you calm the client while easing their symptoms, the body can focus on dealing with the histamines.

Something as simple as posting a brochure or sign about your allergy relieving treatment will have clients calling to get their session in asap!

Impulse Buying - Maximizing Your Retail Profit

I just read an interesting article about increasing retail purchases by how and what you are placing on the reception counter. According the the article, (which can be found here) there are 3 key points to maximizing impulse buys - product selection, placement and the time of year.

You want to make sure your newest and hottest retail items are displayed prominently so the client doesn't have to search for them. Items like tweezers, wet brushes, ingrown zone and similar inexpensive and easy to grab at checkout are ideal.

Rather than having your retail items just sitting on the counter (waiting to get knocked over!), why not display them in baskets or decorative dishes like bamboo trays.

For timeliness, maximize holiday rushes! Around Christmas time, add in holiday scented candles or peppermint products. Using your imagination here will really help your retail counter stand out and reflect your personality.

Beat Those Winter Blues With Massage!

With the holiday stresses (there are too many to list!), colder weather or if you're in a warmer climate, the days becoming dark so early....people tend to feel more run down. If you're in a snowy climate add in the aches and pains from shoveling!

Massage therapy is a sure fire way to combat the winter blues no matter where you are. A study conducted by a firm that tracks sales and advises business on trends found that people were most attached to their lip balms.
