Sunscreen 101

Summer is in full swing, and many of your clients will be out swimming, hiking, vacationing and enjoying the warmth outside! While everyone knows they need to protect their skin, and sunblock is a highly effective solution, are your clients educated on the different types of sunblock? Many sunscreens work by either absorbing, reflecting, or scattering light. Some use chemicals that combine with the skin to protect it from UV rays while others use naturally occurring minerals. I'm sure you have a variety of different clients who are sensitive to chemicals and are looking for a more natural solution to protect their skin from the sun, while others are content with the more traditional, chemical based sunblocks they know and love. Classic Sunscreen

The first type of sunscreen I'm sure most of your clients are familiar with is classic, or chemical based sunscreen. Classic sunscreens use chemically active ingredients that are designed to absorb and dissipate UVA/UVB rays. We have a great selection to choose from!


Our Advanced Sun Resistance SPF 30 Broad Spectrum Formula from June Jacobs is a great, high end sunscreen your clients will love. Paraben and preservative free, this blend of full spectrum chemical UV protectors is specially designed to protect delicate skin from sunburn and UV damage. 






Another great traditional sunscreen is our Sun Therape Moisturizer with SPF 35. It provides super absorbent hydration while helping to repair and protect skin from UVB and UVA exposure. Mineral Sunscreen

Smell The Money!!!!

The power of smell is one of the greatest triggers of sense memories in my opinion. Everyone has at least one smell that instantly transports them into a memory, hopefully good!

As a business owner, you always want people to feel amazing from the moment they walk through your doors. I posted recently about how important good smells are for business as far as ambiance.

Another great way to cash in on smells is by using essential oils in your treatments and retailing them to your clients. By simply having an essential oil warming by the door, cash register or bathrooms you are engaging the client's senses and you will find people asking what the great smell is....perfect opportunity for you to sell them a bottle or three!

Things Looking Up? US Spa Revenues On the Rise

ISPA reports that in 2012, the US Spa industry saw a 4.5% increase in revenue over the previous year, something that translates to a total revenue in the tune of $13.4 billion this year. That is great news for every spa and salon owner out there!

What is interesting is that the same report from ISPA also notes that a whopping 83% of all spas polled made some sort of change to their business this year.

In order to remain competitive and relevant in this world, we must always be evolving. The same goes for your business! I have listed a few suggestions below that you can easily implement in order to maintain your competitive edge!
