Oh Honey, Honey

Honey is unlike any other ingredient in nature and has yet to be synthesized in a chemistry lab! This rich, wonderfully scented Midnight Honey Bath and Beauty Oil is an inspired preparation --true, elegant, and complex in its ability to deeply condition the skin, while restoring suppleness and unleashing the senses.

NEW! Farmaesthetics Bath and Beauty Oil - Midnight Honey / 7 oz.

INSPIRATION:
Nature's most mysterious elixir... honey is unlike any other ingredient in nature and has yet to be synthesized in a chemistry lab! Farmaesthetics' richly round, darkly-scented Midnight Honey Bath and Beauty Oil, is an inspired preparation – true, elegant, and complex in its ability to deeply condition the skin, while restoring suppleness and unleashing the senses. Use in massage, bath, shower, or as a beauty oil for spot treating dry or patchy areas of skin. Apply after bathing when body is still damp, to wrap the skin in rich, warm moisture. (For external use only even though it smells good enough to eat!)

Arnica:
Arnica is highly regarded in herbalism for its ability to diminish bruising and swelling in skin tissue. Arnica has a complex chemistry, but simply put, the herb works to affect the blood vessels so that there is rapid reduction of inflammation, the kind associated with injured tissue. A capful used in external massage or in a warm bath soak, is a simple, effective way to introduce Arnica into the system, while at the same time conditioning the skin & improving circulation. Dermatologists are now recognizing the many benefits of Arnica for patients following laser or plastic surgery.

Applications & Benefits:
Luscious, herbal massage oil for moisturizing and conditioning the whole body complexion.
Luxurious and emollient when used in the bath or applied after shower as body oil.
Great for use in full body massage, having lots of "slip" for easy application and a heady honey scent that releases with friction of massage.
Best applied on damp, warm skin.
Soy has the added benefits of phytoestrogens, said to have balancing effects on irregular hormonal activities.

AS USED IN PROFESSIONAL TREATMENTS:

  • Use as a deep conditioning massage oil for body.
  • Use in Farmaesthetics Cornmeal Scrub treatments.
  • Use in bath to release emollient benefits of soy oil and honey absolute.

Key Ingredients:
Soy Oil: One of the high-grade, cosmetic grade carrier oils. Especially chosen for its softening, uncomplicated chemistry... light enough for massage, yet safe for those with nut allergies. Very emollient and soothing to the skin.
Honey Absolute: Whether in absolute form, used for its rich round scent to "perfume" preparations, or used in its whole form to soften and soothe the skin, honey is nature's most mysterious ingredient. It holds constituents that help heal the skin, protect against infection, and soften and even the complexion to achieve a healthy "glow".
Vitamin E: Used to stabilize all of Farmaesthetics natural non-aqueous formulations. Benefits in restoring skin's elasticity. Assists in healing scars and preventing stretch marks in skin that is being stretched from pregnancy or weight gain.
Ingredients:
Sweet soy oil*, honey absolute and vitamin E (certified organic ingredients*)

Not only is honey amazingly delicious, but did you know it also has a wide variety of beauty benefits? We just got in a supply of Honey Powder that is perfect for incorporating into your spa services!

You can use it as an equal replacement for liquid honey in treatment recipes. Simply use 3/4 parts honey powder, and 1/4 part water, and you're good to go! This can be perfect to use as a highly moisturizing mask. Stock up on your honey powder supply, and incorporate this sweetener into your spa services for a treat your clients will love!

Money With Milk And Honey!

September is National Honey Month! That makes now the perfect time to start thinking about and bringing in products to cash in (literally!) on treatments that focus on honey. Here is a great body treatment that generally sells for $100-125 and costs you less than $5.00 per treatment - my type of math!

Milk & Honey Body Treatment - this is excellent for moisturizing dehydrated skin, stress relief, calming of the skin and more!

In a rubber mixing bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of honey powder with 1 tablespoon of coconut powder and mix well. Add in 2 drops each of chamomile essential oil and jasmine essential oil. Mix well and place the bowl in a mud warmer, hot towel cabinet or stainless steel bowl filled with hot water.  Apply the scrub as you normally perform your body treatments.

If you have a hydrotherapy tub, after removing the scrub is an excellent time for a soak! Mix 1 tablespoon of buttermilk powder to 2 cups of hot water followed by 5 drops of chamomile essential oil. When filling the hydrotherapy tub, tilt the bowl slightly, hold under the faucet and slowly pour the mixture into the tub (go slow to avoid clumping!)

After the scrub and soak, finish off with this moisturizer to lock in all of the wonderful moisture!

Mix 2 teaspoons of wheatgerm oil with 2 drops of chamomile essential oil. Massage the oil into the skin and wipe off any excess oil to finish.

You can create full body packages centered around honey as well! You can use things like Cuccio Naturale Lyte Ultra-Sheer Body Butter - Honey & Soy Milk in nail services and massage!

Be sure to have retail items to go with the treatments, here are some client favorites:

Cuccio Naturale Butter Babies Display Tower Milk & Honey
Soy Crackle Candle - Honey Spice
Cuccio Naturalé Milk & Honey Daily Skin Polisher
Milk & Honey Aqua Leaves
CUCCIO NATURALE Cuticle Conditioning Butter Sticks Milk & Honey

Don't forget to offer teas, honey and snacks!

Pamper Your Clients with a Warm Honey Manicure!

I love seeing different and unique menu options in spas and salons. The staples obviously are great but having a few different options that clients won't expect is a great way to keep them interested - and telling their friends.

Here is one I came across while reading something recently that would be great going into the winter months. It's excellent for dry and overworked hands!

Warm Honey Manicure (treatment takes about 45 minutes)
*Prepare the treatment prior to the client's arrival*

Soak
In a manicure bowl, stir together 1/2 teaspoon of Honey Powder with 1 cup of warm water and 4 drops of tangerine essential oil.

Scrub
In a rubber mixing bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of Organic Sucanat Sugar, 1/4 teaspoon Clove Powder and 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Root Powder. Add in 2 teaspoons Organic Sunflower Carrier Oil and 4 drops tangerine essential oil. Mix well and place into a mud warmer or hot towel cabinet.

Masque
Mix together 2 tablespoons White Clay Powder, 1 teaspoon Honey Powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of Clove Powder. Add in 2 teaspoons of warm water and 4 drops of tangerine essential oil. Mix well and place into a mud warmer or hot towel cabinet.

Moisturizer-
In a rubber mixing bowl, combine 1 teaspoon whipped shea butter and 3 drops tangerine essential oil. Mix well and place into a mud warmer or hot towel cabinet.

After cleansing the hands, allow clients to soak for 2-5 minutes. Apply the scrub to one hand and arm up to the elbow. Pay extra attention to the elbows and palms while massaging the scrub into the skin. Remove excess scrub with warm damp towels and repeat on the other arm.

Apply the masque to the hands and arms up to the elbow. Place the clients hands in a liner and into electric mitts and leave on for 5-7 minutes. Remove the mitts, cut the tips of the liner off so you can prep the nails while having the masque on the client to enhance the softening! Once you've prepped the nails, remove the liners and any excess masque. Massage the moisturizer into the skin and finish the nails as you normally would.

Make the experience extra special by offering honey flavored treats and herbal teas!

Unravel the Secret of a Wonderful Beauty Ingredient - Honey!

It is no wonder that we find so many skin care products that include honey, from products your clients are purchasing or DIY at home remedies. Using honey as a beauty secret dates all the way back to Cleopatra who used to take baths filled with it. (And we all know this girl knew what she was doing when it came to beauty!)

Honey does wonders for the skin and possesses natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which make it especially great for use in sensitive, combination, and acne prone skin types. However, it is suitable for all skin types. Honey as an ingredient in your skin care treatments will moisturize, cleanse and make the skin soft and silky! It also attracts the dirt from skin pores and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, so it is said to be a great natural cleanser and softener.

An easy way to include honey into your treatments would be using Honey Powder, which has a longer shelf life then honey in its traditional form and can be mixed as needed whereas traditional honey can crystallize and be sticky and difficult to use. Honey Powder can be used in milk baths, oatmeal/honey facials, and other treatments utilizing honey. It is also known as a natural humectant and has the ability to attract and retain moisture.

So what IS Honey Powder?
Honey Powder is really just dehydrated honey. It is white in color and has a texture similar to corn flour. The process used to create this powder is to use very high heat, although some producers even freeze dry the honey, to spray to a fine dry powder.

A simple tip on using Honey Powder: You can mix 3/4 parts Honey Powder and 1/4 parts water.
