Get Festive with Cranberry Products

Impulse Buying - Maximizing Your Retail Profit

I just read an interesting article about increasing retail purchases by how and what you are placing on the reception counter. According the the article, (which can be found here) there are 3 key points to maximizing impulse buys - product selection, placement and the time of year.

You want to make sure your newest and hottest retail items are displayed prominently so the client doesn't have to search for them. Items like tweezers, wet brushes, ingrown zone and similar inexpensive and easy to grab at checkout are ideal.

Rather than having your retail items just sitting on the counter (waiting to get knocked over!), why not display them in baskets or decorative dishes like bamboo trays.

For timeliness, maximize holiday rushes! Around Christmas time, add in holiday scented candles or peppermint products. Using your imagination here will really help your retail counter stand out and reflect your personality.

Guy's Night--More Than Just Manly Grooming

When I hear a spa is doing a guy's night, I think of the business offering monetary incentives to get guys in the door. I also think of featuring manly-named services to help ease any stress the guys may feel about going into a spa. While this may be the case at many spas/salons, it's not the only approach to a guy's night.

 I was reading an article over the weekend about a spa going about guy's night differently than I expected. They pick one night a month (or however often the need seems to be) typically a Sunday, and stay open an extra two hours, for only men.  During those two hours, no women are allowed, the spa becomes the man cave. Complete with complimentary snacks and alcohol, the guys can have a staff member help the guys in a laid back manner, pretty much as a personal shopper. They can help pick out gifts for the women in their life, products or even gift certificates. Everything during those guy's nights is also at a discounted rate as an added incentive. As a bonus, the guys can even chat with the staff members about any skin concerns they may be having. They can get treatment and product recommendations without feeling uncomfortable, since all the guys are there for the same reasons!

Having the guy's night event scheduled around holidays (especially Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, etc) is a great way to boost gift certificate and retail sales. Most guys have no clue about quality skin care products for the women in their life, and will trust the recommendations from an experienced professional. Plus, they will get bonus points for an awesome, thoughtful gift!

Celebrate!!!! Keeping Your Clients Happy and Increasing Revenue

Keeping your clients happy is as imperative as offering quality services. Providing quality services is a must as we all know but the thing that sets decent businesses apart from the ones who are always growing is how special their clients feel.

It really doesn't take much to make people feel like you really care about them - not just their business. With a bit of creativity you can tailor ways to show your clients you are invested in their well-being. Package deals are great money saving options but don't really convey a personal caring touch that people respond to.

Some of our clients offer monthly giveaways either by raffle or by guessing the number of an item in a jar.
Others offer loyalty cards where after a set number of services they get a discount or a free add on.
Another great cost effective idea is to offer an add on treatment that will benefit the individual client based on their needs. Explain why this would be beneficial to them and offer a free demonstration or even let them experience the treatment for the first time at no charge.

Birthday or client anniversary dates are great times to show how much you care with something as simple as a personalized card signed by the staff with a coupon enclosed.

Raffle Tickets- most people I know get excited for raffles. You can pick different colored tickets for different tiered prizes and make it fun!

Glass Jar- small enough where you can fill it with items for clients to guess without making you crazy with a high quantity! Also at $2.18, extremely cost effective.
