Moisturizing and Anti-Aging Benefits in Just 20 Minutes!

Facial sheet masks are becoming increasingly popular, and are very easy and convenient to use. A facial sheet mask is one of the quickest ways to restore radiance to dull, tired skin! Another great perk of these sheet masks is that they leave no mess to clean up and just have to be custom trimmed to accommodate the client. These are perfect for your quicker treatments, like clients coming in on a lunch break for a mini facial. You can also offer them to your clients while they are receiving their manicures or pedicure, as an add-on treatment to enhance their spa experience!

We carry some great Collagen Sheet Masks that come in packs of 3. They come in Hydrating, Tightening, Smoothing, and Accelerating.

How to use:
  • The mask is designed to be custom trimmed to accommodate all clients.
  • Set the facial steamer or prepare hot towel cabi with towels.
  • Pre-moisten the face using your fingertips.
  • Apply the mask and lightly press into place.
  • Cover the area with a warm towel and apply light pressure to saturate the mask or hold the mask into place using steam until the mask is thoroughly saturated.
  • Leave on the client for a minimum of 20 minutes with the steam or carefully change warm towels as needed.
  • The mask will turn into a gel-like substance that can be removed easily.
  • Blot the client’s face with tissue.
  • Apply a protective moisturizer.
In only 20 minutes you can offer your clients an intensive moisturizing treatment to fight against premature aging, wrinkles, and slackening of the skin.

Holiday Treatment Idea: Mistletoe-Ready Lips!

Probably one of the most cliched, yet most enjoyable traditions during the holiday season is kissing under the mistletoe.  You can take advantage of this yearly ritual by offering the fun and quirky Mistletoe-Ready Lip Treatment Add On.

Whether you perform facials, body services, manicures, pedicures or hair services, this simple treatment is an easy sell during this time of the year.  The product I recommend using is the Prosana Collagen Crystal Mask, the cost of which is $5.95 per 3 pack, or $1.98 per mask.

Formulated with Amino Acids, Marine Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid and Rose Essential Oil, this mask will nourish, soften and moisturize the lips while helping to increase elasticity, increase plumpness and reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

Simply place the crystal masks on the lips, remove after 15-20 minutes. Do not remove any product left on the lips after the treatment.  Instead, gently massage the lip area to help the remaining product be absorbed.

And when it comes to profit, the numbers do not lie.  If you charge your clients $5 for the mask add-on, you will earn $3.02 per treatment, which is a 152% profit.  If you choose to charge you clients $10 for the add-on, which is more of an industry-standard price, you will make a $8.02 profit per treatment, or 405% profit!

Spice Up Your Spa For Fall with These Bargain Ideas!

I love fall! Fall is exciting. It's apples and cider. It's an airborne spider. It's pumpkins in bins. It's burrs on dog's chins. It's wind blowing leaves. It's chilly red knees. It's nuts on the ground. It's a crisp dry sound. It's green leaves turning And the smell of them burning. It's clouds in the sky. It's fall. That's why... I love fall. --Author Unknown

As much as I hate to admit it, it is time to begin preparing for Autumn. Don't get me wrong, I love Autumn, it is by far my favorite season...the smells, the chill in the air, the boots and sweaters and pumpkins and apples and cranberries and leaves...but I am not ready to let go of summer quite yet.

For a business, though, you always must be thinking ahead. So while I am still looking forward to hot days on the beach, warm evenings at the park, swimming, and lots of other fun outdoor activities with my kids, I will let go of summer, just a little, to chat with you about what is in store for the next season!

Autumn has such a different feel from all of the other seasons, and it is so easy infuse your spa with Autumn. Spruce up your space, add Autumn-themed add-ons to your services, even add new services for the change of the seasons!

I have included some ideas below for adding that "Autumn Feel" to your spa...on a budget! By simply changing up the essential oils you use, you can easily adjust your menu and offerings to embrace this exciting season! Adding one or two Autumn-themed specials may drive extra business, without a large buy-in to get started. And finally, some simple touches to lose the carefree feeling of summer, and fully embrace the Comforts of Autumn.

Autumn Aromas
One of the more remarkable changes that come along with the passing of seasons each year is variation in scents depending on the time of year. One whiff of peppermint or pine, and I am immediately whisked to Christmas time; cinnamon, apple, and nutmeg brings me to changing leaves, boots, and sweaters of Autumn! Use these essential oils (and more!) to scent your spa or your services! Trade in the light, sweet, fruity scents of summer for these alluring autumn aromas:
  • Frankincense - this warm, woody aroma acts as an antidepressant, relaxes, and revitalizes, allowing the spirit to soar! This essential oil is non-irritating, so it is a great oil to mix with your massage oil for an extra-special Autumn Massage.
  • Juniper Berry - Juniper Berry is often used in the winter, but its pleasantly sweet, slightly fruity, invigorating evergreen scent is so delicious, it is even better if you start using it early! An anti-inflammatory, antiseptic essential oil, Juniper Berry is a great addition when the seasons turn and your clients and staff start getting the sniffles! Plus, Juniper Berries are used to make gin, to the scent has a masculinity to it that lends itself well to a variety of aroma blends.
  • Sandalwood - the longest lasting of all essential oils, Sandalwood has a sweet, woody scent, and acts as an antidepressant, antiseptic and aphrodisiac, making this perfect for lifting the spirits of your clients and staff when they are feeling the "summer is over" blues.
  • Cinnamon - While Cinnamon is used the least of the spice oils in aromatherapy, it can encourage some very positive results, including warming (a necessity as our bodies get used to the temperature changes of Autumn), invigorating, and promoting courage.
To easily transform your spa into an Autumnal Arcadia, simply choose scents that fit the season (mix your own blends, or check out the blends we have already available HERE), and use diffusers placed around your space to share the scents of the seasons with your guests!

Autumn-Themed Specials
Changing up your regular menu not only excites your clients and brings in new business, but it keeps your staff motivated as well! Ask for their input as to what kinds of Autumn twists you can add to your current service offerings, and watch them come alive again!
  • Autumn Pedicures - While your clients may not be prancing around in strappy sandals any longer, I guarantee you they wish they were, and having their pedicure will give them a little glimpse of summer gone. We offer an Autumn Pedicure Package featuring Cranberry, but even if you do not want a whole pacakge, add Cranberry Paraffin to the beginning of your pedicures or use a Pumpkin Scrub during the service. Little touches go a long way!
  • Incorporate Ginger Root to your facials, during steaming, to invigorate, warm, and comfort your clients!
  • Pumpkin Facials - Pumpkin is amazing for the skin and produces beautiful results. Feature a special Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial featuring a pumpkin mask....touting it as a "Limited Time Only" special will help fuel the urgency and drive business!
  • Autumn-Themed Massages - Use Pumpkin Massage oil, or blend your own with some of the scents listed above. Either way, surrounding your clients with the smells of the season will be uplifting and bring them back again and again. And while your clients will know they can count on a quality massage, by using themed Massages for various times a year, they will be a little bit excited to see what you have cooked up this time!

Comforts of Autumn
I always feel all warm and cozy during fall. It is a time of reaffirmation and preparation for the stress of the holiday season which is just around the corner. You can help foster your clients' warm and cozy feeling during the fall with some simple touches at your spa.
  • Offer cinnamon-apple or cranberry tea instead of coffee. Cinnamon-apple is a sure sign of Autumn, cranberries are all about harvest, and a warm cup of tea is perfect on a crisp day!
  • Feature Autumn-scented hand soap in your restrooms. Apple, pumpkin, cranberry...its the detail that matters. Your clients will notice that you have fully embraced the season, even down to the restrooms.
  • Change up the retail products you offer. Apple cuticle remover doesn't HAVE to be an Autumn product, but I know I would smile if I saw this item show up on your shelves just in time for apple picking! Rotate the scents of the retail hand and body lotions you offer to feature warmer, more inviting scents for the season. Your retail sales will soar and your wallet will thank you!
  • Offer cookies to each client or have a display out in your reception area - snickerdoodles, shortbread, gingersnaps. I promise, your clients will be sneaking seconds!
For now, though, I am going to go back to enjoying the warmth, sunshine, and carefree fun of the summer!

Lovely Luscious Lips

To continue with the theme of ignored body parts (Check out my Neck Blog!), today, Lips are up for discussion. I know I do not need to tell anyone how our important our lips are to us - whether we are using them for kissing, smiling, frowning, puckering, pursing and everything in between. So why are there so few treatments for them?! Even though the delicate skin and mucous membranes make lips a tricky part to take care of, that doesn't mean that they should be ignored!
Enter the 10 Gram paint-on Lip Mask. Formulated with the all natural ingredients of alginate, rice starch, marine collagen, chitosan, green tea perfume, this mask works to increase moisture, increase the absorption of said moisture, decrease inflammation and smooth out the skin. It comes in powdered form, so all you need to do is add the specified amount of water, mix vigorously, and apply with a facial brush. Let the mask set and leave on your client for at least 15 minutes. Gently remove with facial sponges to reveal soft, supple lips. Start using this Lip Mask as an add-on or as the main event for an Intensive Lip Treatment today!

A Spa that had me at Hello!

This past weekend, I had a spa experience that has blown all previous experiences away! Why? Upon welcoming me into the already gorgeous and serene spa, they handed me something no other spa has done to me before...Cool Treats -- Iced Eucalyptus Spa Towels. They are so refreshing, and will be a huge hit amongst all of your clients during the spring and summer months.

Eucalyptus is a popular choice, because of its wide range of benefits. When used in a spa setting it can be used to clean and sanitize, because of its anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Have your clients use these Iced Eucalyptus Towels to clean their hands, rub their face, cool their neck, and breathe in to help decongest, especially during a terrible allergy season. Adding this powerful essential oil to the iced towels can be used to stimulate, purify, refresh, and clear the mind before starting any spa service.
What you Need?

Recipe:
Pour some water into one stainless steel bowl, and add in 8-10 drops of your favorite Eucalyptus Essential Oil. (Hint: Use 1-2 drops of essential oil per towel). Dip and drench each towel into the bowl, wring it out, roll it,and transfer it to a clean bowl. Lastly, pour crushed iced or ice chips over the towels..... and there you have a nice spa treat!

I was so impressed how something so simple & economical can lead to a more memorable, enjoyable, and therapeutic experience. I know I will be back vising that spa again!

Elastin Wet Collagen Eye Mask: Add it on!

Finding the right products that actually bring visible results to your clients can be a tough task. In the skin care world, instant satisfaction is a key element to making a client happy with their service. Clients want to leave their treatment looking rejuvenated, with a noticeable change to the appearance of their skin. Add-on treatments, that actually work, are essential in obtaining that instant gratification.

So what do I recommend? The Elastin Wet Collagen Eye Mask.

This mask is blended with vitamins, acids, and extracts to restore the skin’s natural moisture and bring firmness back to the eye area. The Elastin Wet Collagen Eye Mask works wonders to instantly suppress fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness. The entire add-on treatment can take between 15-20 minutes, and the prepared mask is extremely easy to apply. Another benefit is creating more relaxation time for your clients, all while increasing the treatment cost and profits. Recommend this add-on treatment for clients planning a big night out, or anyone looking for immediate miracles, without injections or surgery. Clients will be amazed with the results!

Eclipse the Competition with Client Cards

As we all know, the name of the game in business is making money. Service industries, such as the beauty industry, have to come up with more nuanced ways to do this, however, because of the diversity in the client base. Every day, I discuss with Spa Owners and Independent Contractors alike how they can make their clients more comfortable while also making their own lives less complicated in the process. One of the keys to a happy client is recognition of their wants and needs. I love it when I walk into a spa or salon and the people know my name, know I will want my hair dyed plum red, my nails done in cobalt blue, and my massage very thorough rather than gentle.

One of the best ways to fulfill the desire for recognition in your clients is to fill out a Client Card for every single customer who walks through your door. Each card has space to fill out contact information, what service was rendered, what your Client liked, and what you may want to avoid next time. Hair stylists can keep track of specific formulas used to create the perfect hair color for that specific person. Nail techs can make a note after each appointment of what color polish the client used, in case they would like it in the future. Spray Tan Technicians can make notes regarding which solutions the customer looks best in. The details that can be noted are endless and your clients will love the attention to detail and the extra attention to them.
