Garshana (Ayurvedic Massage) for Wellness

With everyone "going green" these days, natural spa treatments are gaining popularity in spas across the country. Adding Garshana Massage is an easy way to add another natural treatment to your menu without breaking the bank!

In Sanskrit, Garshana literally means "rubbing" or "exfoliation." A Garshana massage is a dry lymphatic massage, where the therapist wears wool Garshana gloves, and is performed without oil. The therapist briskly rubs the client with upward strokes, cleansing and exfoliating the skin. This type of massage increases circulation, so clients who receive Garshana massages on a regular basis can also experience a breakdown of fat and cellulite.

Traditionally, a Garshana massage is followed by a warm oil massage. Oil applied to the skin after a Garshana massage penetrates better, as the skin is warmed, the dry skin has been removed, and the blood cells are closer to the skin's surface.
